Review Summary
This movie takes a closer look into the violent environment of inner-city America. The cast has many notable African-American names in it. Robert Townsend may have played his greatest role ever, as a Black superhero fighting gangsters and drug dealers in his neighborhood. Eddie Griffin (TV's Malcolm and Eddie) is his usual funny self, Robert Guillaume and Marla Gibbs portray the superhero's parents very flawlessly, and the rest of the cast shines in the film (and Luther Vandross doesn't even have a speaking part at all!). A brief note: Although the movie is actually set in Washington, DC, it was filmed in nearby Baltimore.
