Review Summaries
" Adults and teenagers disappeared from cars, buses, homes and anywhere else they were at the time. Children's lives were changed forever, their parents and older siblings simply disappearing out of thin air. Ensuing the change came a horrible change in humanity. Anyone younger than 14 were sent to dormitories where they awaited their impending death, and anyone fourteen or over were sent to the "Meat Factory" where they were dismembered so that their evil captors, the "Overlords" could take their brains and muscle to create their vast armies of wingers, trackers, screamers, myrmidons, and ferrets, that they used to capture escapees from the dorms, and fight battles.
Shade's Children is the story of a couple of children lucky enough to escape the "dorms" and make it to one man, one mentor, called "shade". Though Shade is not an actual man, he has the personality and intelligence of one. Children lucky enough to escape their death and their pursuit by horrible creatures flocked to Shade's submarine for protection, supplies, and weapons.
In this book Shade uses the children to battle the Overlords forces and try to discover their source of enormous power."

"Shade's Children, by Garth Nix, is the story of a horrifying world, where, one day, every adult simply disappeared. Children were left confused and excited, but every last one was eventually kidnapped by the Overlords, strange alien creatures who use children for their own sick and violent purposes.
All the children of the world are kept in "dorms", where they live out their lives under the Overlord's rules, never leaving...until they turn 14. When a child reaches 14, their "Sad Birthday", they are taken to the Meat Factory, where they are killed and stripped of their brains and muscles to be used in strange, frightening creatures that stalk the empty, broken cities of the world.
We meet Gold-Eye, a boy who was able to escape the dormitories with his strange powers. Running in the lonesome cities and sewers of Earth, he meets Shade's Children, Ninde, Drum, and Ella, who also escape using their power. Shade's Children try to destory the Overlords, under the commands of Shade; a strange computer-like being. It's not long before Gold-Eye become's one of Shade's Children, however, these four are getting worried. More of Shade's other Children are dying on their missions, and Shade is becoming more and more ruthless in his tactics. "

"Imagine a world where you are hunted day and night. Where you are never safe. Where you're lucky to live to see another day. It all starts in the dorms, where humanity is bred, until they reach the age of 14 when he or she is taken to the meat factory. There their body parts are taken apart to form new creatures. Myrmidons, wingers, trackers and an odd assortment of creatures, meant to find refuges, and war amongst themselves for the pleasure of the mysterious overlords.
Gold-eye, Ninde, Ella and Drum, along with many more of shades children, fight in the epic battle to detroy the overrlords. They go on dangeorous missions, stealing information, and resqueing friends. But, will they make it in time?"
Ihnsee, Resident Garth Nix Scholar
"Gold - Eye, Ninde, Ella, and Drum are fighting against evil aliens who take and send kids to a "meat Factory" when they turn fourteen. They use the body parts for there own gladiatorial fights. So these people are trying to stop the overlords by finding their source of power."
