Review Summary
AT WINTER'S END is a novel written in 1988.

After the falling of the death-stars on Earth, 700,000 years have passed. Koshmar's tribe has been able to survive by building a cocoon beneath the ice. Now strange signals have happened that persuade Koshmar that the time has come to emerge. Under the guidance of Koshmar and Hresh, a young boy who's so curious about everything that he's been chosen as the new Wise Man of the group, the tribe is heading towards Vengiboneezza, the legendary city that ruled the world before the great cataclysm. Hresh will spend years searching for informations about the ancient time in the ruins of the City. He will also discover that he and his tribe are not humans but only animals who have developed intelligence during their reclusion in the cocoon. The tribe will also have to deal with other animals who have survived on the planet. Will Koshmar and Hresh be able to find a place for them to live in peace or will the tribe be eliminated by the Hijks, giant ants that are slowly invading the Earth.
