Review Summaries
"THORNS is a novel published in 1967. Minner is an astronaut who's been atrociously mutilated by the inhabitants of an alien planet before sent back to Earth. He has become a freak so when Chalk, a wealthy businessman, promises to finance an operation in order to transplant Minner's brain in a new body, he accepts Chalk's conditions : to become for the next 5 years the center of the public's attention thanks to Chalk's medias empire. So Chalk secretly organizes the encounter between Minner and Lona, a marked by life woman who, when she was seventeen, had been chosen to give 100 ova to the science in order to become the mother of 100 children. Minner and Chalk are offered a sumptuous honeymoon trip followed by an audience of millions. But there are too many social differences between the astronaut and the young girl and both of them will continue to suffer."
