| Review Summary |
This sequel to the classic _Forever War_ finds William Mandella and the rest of the veterans of the Forever War living in isolation on the planet Middle Finger under the benign dictatorship of the human hive-mind Man. Tired of being little more than genetic backup Mandella and others scheme to hijack the last starship and take it out for a spin. By manipulating relativity they mean to propel themselves 40,000 years into the future. When the starship fails they return home to find everyone missing or dead, and the same thing on Earth.
