Review Summaries
"More body snatching extraterrestrial invaders: movie explores similar themes to Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Thing, Night of the Living Dead, X-Files, The Brain Eaters & Fiend Without a Face. More precisely, they are stingray-like parasites that attach themselves to human spinal columns: they don't really take the forms of earthlings; they take them over. Seemingly derivative, but even so, somehow retaining a trace of freshness. The closest adaptation to Heinlein's Novel (there have been many movies inspired by it, but not necessarilly following the story). Certainly it helps that it is directed with care and conviction by Stuart Orme. Learning the facts of life about this particular alien organism ("The trick is to find something they're vulnerable to and we're not": no truer for the characters than for their fictional creators) is fascinating in its details, and the lessons never decrease the pace, diminish the action, dampen the suspense. Plenty of each. Somehow overlooked when it came out, even by fans, it is still a small gem. "
