"This book follows three generations of the brajjyd family after the first contact with humans (who they view as magical beings from the great light or sun as they have no hair on their bodies) It shows the way that Man slowly tries to change a society that has remained unchanged for thousands of years. Firstly Kiv peGanz Brajjyd is shown how to wipe out the dreaded hugl, a locust like insect that destroys crops. Next his daughter, Sindi geKiv Brajjyd breaks an age old tradition by marrying within her tribe. Finally Norvis peKahn Brajjyd is betrayed by the earthmen by having his peych bean fertiliser stolen and given to another student. Are the changes that the earthmen implement for the better? It soon turns out that they bring about disasterous consequences that are left to the locals to mend."
