Esteemed Scholar: William Betts Total Posts in Gordon R. Dickson 8 2. Least favorite book and why? My all time Least favorite book is ernest hemingway's The Sun Also Rises, which has to be the most brain dead excuse for literature ever written. But this is an SF page, and were talking about Gordon Dickson here, So... One Dickson book that i really dont like is Necromancer, because its not really science fiction, just another cheesy story about a guy whose posessed by a spirit and dosent even know it. 4. Favorite character and why? Harker, from a short story called "Twig". Drunken Australians are always good characters. 5. Which character do you identify most with and why? Michael de Sandewal in Lost Dorsai would be a good choice, with his attemps to reconcile ethics and responsibility. Most Dickson characters are creative, ethical, mildly insecure types, and not james bonds. just like me. 7. What do you like about author's writing style? It's kind of a freindly, personal style that is enjoyable to read, and sometimes very poetic. (some first-person character narrators excepted, of course.) 8. What are your favorite themes of this author? The decency and potential of humanity. Dickson isnt an obnoxious cynic 9. What could be most improved about this authors books?
