1. Favorite book and why?
The Lord of the Rings, save for the Bible, is the most significant book in my life. It basically invented the fantasy genre, and is what really got me interested in fantasy.

2. Least favorite book and why?
The Silmarillion in published form simply because we can never know what a Tolkien publication would have been like. His son Christopher assembled it from bits and pieces, and although Christopher Tolkien has done an admirable job he is not his father. The Silmarillion in published form is not, and never can be, the book Tolkien originally invisioned.

3. Favorite scene in favorite book and why?
There are to many. Like Galadrial, Fangorn, the entire Eowyn/Witch-king sequence, Rivendell, the Sourging of the Shire, etc. It gives me a basis fro waht I want to do in my own writings -- to have a goal to shoot for. To write a book better than The Lord of the Rings (I shoot as high as I can go -- lets hope the arrow doesn't fall to the earth and kill me ; )).

4. Favorite character and why?
Aragorn, simply because he is one of the true heros of the NOVEL (it is not a trilogy people!) It also indicates perhaps one of the only weaknesses in the book -- we don't really know who Aragorn is until much later. That is partially Tolkien's fault, because when Trotter (the original hobbit prototype for Aragorn) he didn't know who he was either.

5. Which character do you identify most with and why?
Gollum. I've always wanted to refer to myself in third person and talk to magical rings.

6. If you could see a sequel to one of the author's books, which would it be and what would it be about?
No one would be able to write a sequel. But, if there would be one, it be to LORD OF THE RINGS. Tolkien began a very small fragment of one, but it obviously did not pan out.

7. What do you like about author's writing style?
His fluid descriptions of nature, his sense of movement, his linguistic expertises, and the fact he essentially pioneered the modern epic fantasy.

8. What are your favorite themes of this author?
The one about environment, love of simple things, loyalty, honour, and his statement that Tolkien said was the most important in the novel. (Not an exact quote -- it can be found toward the end of the chapter Council of Elrond.). "Small hands turn the wheels of the world because they must, while the eyes of the wise are elsewhere". That basically sums up THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

9. What could be most improved about this authors books?
Had there been more published and more completed material.
