1. Favorite book and why?
HOW FEW REMAINS. This very well written book does establish a plausible scenario regarding a divided United States. I love how Mr. Turtledove describes the initial and budding relationship between the US and Imperial Germany. Being a Southerner, I also enjoyed the machinations between Stonewall and Longstreet and how the confederacy deals with its slavery issue. Plus reading about the other characters and how those other characters interact with each other to formulate the whole story. I found this book extremely hard to put down once I discovered it.

2. Least favorite book and why?
GUNS OF THE SOUTH. I am a fan of Science Fiction, however, after reading HOW FEW REMAINS, the story of time travelers changing US history became rather lame compared to the confederacy actually winning the war through better generalship and providence (I am also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserves).

3. Favorite scene in favorite book and why?
HOW FEW REMAINS. The interchange between GEN Stonewall, GEN Alexander and Frederick Douglass while eating dinner (also the brief exchange reference the pot of mustard).

4. Favorite character and why?
Arthur Mcgregor. A father who goes after the destroyer of his family.

5. Which character do you identify most with and why?
COL Morrell (although he is on the wrong side). He just discovered the joys of "Tanking" (barrelling for you non-tankers). Additionally, I can see a part for him as Chief of the US General Staff once Mr. Turtledove finishes the sequel to BREAKTHROUGHS.

6. If you could see a sequel to one of the author's books, which would it be and what would it be about?
BREAKTHROUGHS. Hopefully, the confederacy will come back from the ashes of defeat and totally destroy the damnyankees. My main concern is which country will play the part of NAZI Germany? I certainly hope that Jake Featherstone is a Churchill figure and not the Hitler of the next sequel. I also would like to see GEN George S. Patton, CSA come into the picture. It will also be interesting to see which side the Japanese ally themselves with for the next story.

7. What do you like about author's writing style?
Very easy and enjoyable reading.

8. What are your favorite themes of this author?
The possibilities of different histories because of a minor change in one event (the cigars with GEN Lee's orders).

9. What could be most improved about this authors books?
None. I like his style.
