LOTR Movie: Will Arwen toss the Ring into Mount Doom, too?
Any movie based on a book is going to have certain differences, but I found one particularly galling: Arwen, Aragorn's hot elf girlfriend, played the Glorfindel role and fought off the black riders.
Huh? It seems to me the filmmakers did this to have a "strong woman warrior" in the film, which is politically correct nowadays. If that's true, can we also expect that Arwen will cast the ring into Mount Doom, topple Saruman, and beat all nine Nazgul at once?

who's Galadreil? :P I think maybe they made a mistake in developing Arwen's character in the movie so much --it seems like you could have seen her in it, but kept her as sort of an aloof ideal.

no. I'm glad that Arwen didn't do that. She beat the black riders because Frodo needed her. I'm glad she did that also because then she wouldv'e sounded ditsy.

I'm not necessarily agreeing with this, but I did find the lenghthy Arwen-Aragorn kissing scenes rather irritating. In the books Arwen's first appearance is actually when she gets married to Aragorn but I suppose they could't do that as it would be confusing for people who hadn't read the books.

arwen didn't fend off the dark riders. The river swelled up because rivendell was protected by magic from one of the three elven rings. Elrond had one Galadriel had one and cirdan the ship wright had one. I am not sure but I believe that gandalf was given one of the rings that is how he became gandalf the white. It may have been the ring protecting the grey havens.
