What's wrong with Enterprise, Part II--The show is slow
To have a good episode of Star Trek (of any Star Trek series), it's not necessary to have tons of action. But if you're only going to have a little action, you need dramatic tension to accompany it. In other words, a great risk or fear of something happening.
Strange New World didn't have any action, but the tension between T'Pol and Charlie Tucker with guns pointed at each other made for a very compelling episode. The episode with the mud faced people had no tension and almost no action. The episode with the comet had no action and almost no tension, except at the very end. The "Fight or Flight" episode only had tension at the very end when they were attacked.
For most of the hour in these episodes there is... talk. And there's nothing wrong with talk, or character development, in service of a plot--but not the other way around. Kirk had some great bantering with Spock and McCoy but they didn't do it while sipping tea at a starbase--they were always doing it in the context of some action/adventure storyline. That made things more interesting.
Enterprise lacks that, though it does have a few interesting characters. But characters talking to each other cannot carry what is supposed to be an action series. And now you must agree.

Prestige Entertainment spoke to Shatner management today, July 17, 2009 and confirmed to go ahead with Mr Shatner's personal appearance at the Chicago Star Trek event. Tickets are already onsale and selling. There are a very limited number of tickets available as the venue, The Portage Theater in Chicago, is very intimate with limited seating. This is a very up close and personal event. The ticket includes a meet and greet with Mr. Shatner, a commemorative photo (limited edition), a 30 min Q & A Session, and a double feature screening of The Wrath Of Khan and The Search For Spock on Saturday Sept 5, 2009 beginning at 8pm.
