Porthos do you work for Paramount? Or were you in some way involved with the show? Just wondering. Take Care...

What part of they were very faithful to TOS did I fail to make clear? Ive been with the property for decades, so if I dont have any issues with it, nobody should. Whats the harm? No one's making you buy the things if you don't want to. Youve still got your DVDs of the original so nobody's gonna bust down your door and take those away for you. Who would buy it? Maybe loyal fans who can actually open their minds to a new spin on an old favorite? Ill be first in line to buy it the day it premires. And I'm the one who needs to lighten up?

Tod, the series is finally back in syndication, so it shouldn't be long before one of your local stations starts airing it.
Take Care...

I think it will be interesting to see what they do with shows like: who mourns for adonis and the savage curtain(The part where lincoln comes into focus on the viewscreen-and apollo's hand- also concider The enterprise incident where they can have romulan ships instead of what spock refers to as : Romulamns now using klingon design! I even endorse cutting the klingon design line . even back in the 60s i had this feeling that they didnt want to spend extra money on a new romulan ship. I dont mind the guages being switched though, The guages rolling backwards in one episode embarrasses me. one thing i would like to see fixed is spocks station on the bridge where they pull a report or file that is on a long piece of compter tape. Will They Change the tombstone from james R kirk to James T Kirk? Great questions at any rate. By the way: Where can i catch any of these remastered episodes? Toddk

Porthos, not meaning to argue, but they have changed a few things on the bridge. In the original series the enterprise had these roll back analogue gauges, which are now digital. I mean it's not a glaring change. I guess I'm just a purist, but I just hate to see anyone go back over someone else's work. Take Care...

Lighten up? Didn't know this was too heavy for you. Just an opinion, that's all. If what oyu said is true, it begs the question: why change it in the first place if it's THAT subtle? And who would want it?

They didnt modernize it. All the tech looks pretty much the same. They just cleaned it up. Nothing wrong with that. And just in case this slipped your mind, the originals can still be bought on DVD. Nothing is being taken away from you. Theyve been slavishly respectfull of TOS and didnt stick in anything that didnt look TOS. They went through excrutiating efforts to make any altered footage to look at home with TOS style aesthetics. The ship isnt doing barrel-rolls or anything. Just lighten up for crying out loud. Its not hurting you one bit.

Altering the original serves no purpose except to sell new box sets of the same series. Modernizing the show removes the appeal of seeing it in the right context...being produced during a particular period of time in TV history. Next they'll be changing the endings.

Has anyone seen the digitally remastered episodes of the original series? They've gone back and spruced up the phaser beams and slightly changed the Enterprise's bridge by transforming all the old fashioned roll over gauges with digital numbers. They've also changed the planets. Instead of a solid blue or orange planet they now look earth-like with clouds and continents. My brother likes it, he says it makes the episodes easier to watch. I, personally, ain't too crazy about it. You don't mess with a classic. It's the stories I like, not all the pretty lights. Anyone else have an opinion? Take Care...

Archer 'stunk' but not in the olfactory sense.

Im as big a critic of Enterprise as any but even I thought the whole "body odor" thing was kinda pointless. But the point about Archer's unfortunate tendency to get his butt handed to him fairly often is pretty valid. I know I couldnt feel very confident serving under such a weak Captain.

You mean to tell me that those Enterprise-heads have gotten so little from that show, that it is so wrung out like a moldy old bath towel, that they have resorted to talking about body odor and wimpery? How about talking about the great early long overdue death of the show instead?.." if we had only acted sooner to cancel it" mumbles berman as he sits in a depressing bar!

Braga didnt put too much thought into the uncharacteristic Vulcan/Human tension (That was never HINTED at in any other show). I wouldnt put too much thought into trying to make it makes sense. As for Archer, he DID get his hinder handed to him seven ways to Sunday a lot, didnt he? Remember when he pounded on the tank of the aquatic ship and got pwned? Even Wal-Mart tells you not to tap on an aquariums glass you dumb sh!t. Archer seems to be like Vegeta of Dragonball Z. He thinks if he gets beaten up he gets stronger. Of course desptie his pride and ego Vegita STILL has some basic common sense. Archer doesnt.

Maybe Spock didn't say anything about Kirk's B.O. because he's half human? Also, I'm 100% human, as far as I know, and I think most of the humans on this planet stink too! I mean, have you guys been to a mall recently? Peeew! Oh, and PS: Archer is definitely a wuss!

Of course Spock never mentions it. The smell thing was just part of Bermaga's idiotic attempt to instill enmity between the Human and Vulcan races. Spock never mentioned humanity ever having prejudice against Vulcans either. Braga just pulled the notion outta his hinder like he did all the other hooey. Braga's the last person who would care if it jibes with canon or not. When Kirk met Cochrane, Zephram wasnt the vulgar, superstitious, boozy old drunkard that Picard met. Even the episode where T'Pol talks about her grandmother on Earth doesnt jibe with First Contact and Braga wrote BOTH only a few years apart. Point is never, ever accept ANYTHING said or seen in ENTERPIRSE as valid or canonical. Its the HIGHLANDER II of Star Trek.

In the first episode T'Pol says that all humans have an offensive smell to all vulcans. Phlox gives her some sort of medicine or something to numb her olfactory senses. She ran out of the medicine. Everyone smelled bad to her. She was just pickin on Archer. He really smells lovely.

The UN banned corned beef and cabbage as cruel and unusual punishment in the early 21st century after it was determined to be torture. But put four prisoners in an unventilated 10 X 10 cell and you'll be amazed at the confessions you could get.
