If the UFO's had lasers, why couldn't they shoot down the interceptor missiles? Or why didn't four of them attack, and after the interceptors fired, the fourth could destroy the 3 interceptors before they got back to moonbase? Shouldn't the UFO's be much faster than the interceptors because they've travelled such a long distance? Then again, most of the time the missiles fired at them never hit anything - they seem to be just fired randomly in the direction of the UFO in scattershot manner. The British defence budget was a little below par. Not as high as it was during WW II. Or even during Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow.
