TV-Commentary - UFO
1980 - 1980 - 1980 - 1980
At the beginning of every episode they flash the "1980" sign to show that this was the near future. But it's over 20 years later and we still don't have a base on the moon, or planes that can launch from submarines, or everyone wearing Mao suits. Were they a bit overoptimistic in their projections?

The series itself was filmed in '69 and anyone who was living back then thought that by the year 2000 we'd all be living in glass-domed cities with monorails for transportation and weekend trips to the moon. Right. So from that point of view I could'nt blame Anderson for usuing that tactic. He tryed to "flash frame" the 1980 too! Little sneaky, huh?
