Where exactly did Sheridan, Vorlons, Shadows et.al. go?
They always were a little vague on where Captain John Sheridan & the rest went to; Lorien gave the impression that it was at the edge of the galaxy; if so, what was there to see and do in empty space? Or did they go and explore other galaxies? Or, more likely, did they go to some other plane of existance? I found it interesting Lorien came back for Captain John Sheridan; if it was such a long distance, how did Lorien travel back and forth so quickly? Now that they're not manipulating the younger races, what do the Shadows and Vorlons do with their time?

They all left the Milky Way Galaxy to raise H-E double toothpicks in another Galaxy. In their spare time, the first ones pit a Vorlon against a Shadow in something called THUNDERDOME. Two beings enter, one being leaves. Then the winner faces the WHEEL.

Oh that...i believe they packed some pop-corn, grabbed some beer and went to the rim watching those Duck toons that Michael Garibald was so fond of.
Perhaps after that they went to sleep, for a very long-long time.
So much harassment in just a little over two years... you don't get called the first ones for nothing, some one is entitled for a happily-ever-after.

Agreed - the passing of the First Ones, et. al. resonates with the finale of LOTR...and mythology throughout Our History (think especially of Arthur, takenn to Avalon).
How did Lorien get to and fro so quickly? Simple: as The First One, time and space hold no meaning - or at least a different meaning for him.
Why come back for Sheridan? He was the key, The One who altered the history of the galaxy as no one before or since.

I think that the passage to a higher plane of existance is the goal for heros. ie. Bilbo and Frodo leave Middle Earth along with the Elves and the time of man is now at hand. Remember there are only so many stories it is how well you tell them. I have enjoyed how JMS has retold many stories and done it well almost every time.
