I never noticed when I read the book as a kid, but upon rereading it I thought it odd that Dan, the protagonist, had the hots for Rickie. I mean, when he married her she was all grown up and it was ok, but he obviously lusted for her when she was only ten years old. Is anyone else troubled by this? Life doesn't seem to fit a template. I never worried about the choices in a RAH book, they were always just points of view or options. I've always picked my own way. Some of his ideas are very American, probably that's why he lost out to Roddenberry. Starship Troopers isn't anywhere near politically correct like Star Trek.        posts on 5/27/2006 2:36:42 PM I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed that in nearly all of his works (excluding early pre-sexual revolution work and "Boy's Life" stories) involve relations between people old enough to be the parent of the other.
