(click here) TV-Commentary - Battlestar Galactica Wasn't Baltar killed in the original movie? I seem to remember in the original movie that Baltar was killed on the spot by a Cylon with a sword, and then they reedited it to have the Imperious Leader intervene. Also, how come in the movie he was almost bald, but in the series he had a rich head of hair? Click here to post a message        The commentator rand posts on 12/6/2005 10:24:18 PM once more i have lost my temper and must apologize. piman, i am sorry. but please, please, please, stop trying to talk over everyone's heads. so what if we're not as well read up on physics as you? can't you respect us anyway? you might be surprised to learn that we are also intelligent, perhaps even more than you in some areas. also, as to the silly scifi which most of us like, haven't you ever heard that to enjoy a good story of almost any type you have to suspend your disbelief? as for lasers not being a very practical weapon, we,ve had ground based units since 1979 that can easily knock objects the size of a piper cub airplane and missiles out of the sky. hand held lasers might never be like the ones on star trek, but work has been going on for years on a rifle that shoots pulses of sound that can stun people. as for the rail gun's potential, it might replace the gunpowder charged shell, but never the guided missile. the aircraft carriers built in the future will use the same electromagnatisim to launch their fighters rather than the steam catapults we have today. once more, i apologize, tim        The commentator Bang Bang posts on 12/5/2005 1:13:07 AM In the theatrical release of Battlestar Galactica, Baltar was indeed beheaded at the behest of the Imperious Leader, but in the TV show he was spared, presumably because Glen Larson felt that having a hated human leading the Cylons would make for better stories. A couple of weeks ago, I bought "Mission Galactica: The Cylon Attack," and there was good ol' Baltar leading the attack on the battlestar. But, if I understand correctly, this movie was released overseas in 1979, to the very same theatre-goers who saw Baltar being executed in the original movie! So, here he shows up, leading the Cylons, for no explanation for his resurrection, or his new seat of power! Larson should have edited in the scene from "Lost Planet of the Gods," where a weary Baltar is brought before the Imperious Leader and given a base ship. It wouldn't exactly have explained how he survived having his head chopped off, but the inference could be that the Cylons had him rebuilt with Cylon parts.        The commentator Clarence D'Silva posts on 4/25/2005 11:34:40 AM It was supposed to look like he had been killed but IL-1 at the last minute saved Baltar.
