Why did Frodo wait so long to leave Hobbiton?
Ok, you're Frodo, see, and you've just been told that your ring is superpowerful, and the enemy is looking for you. Does it make sense to wait four months before heading for Rivendell? Isn't that a rather cavelier attitude?

Frodo left with the elves after the ring is destroyed because he was in fact the bearer of the ring of power along with bilbo and all the other ring holders. Its almost like taking a herion attic totally away from his enviorment so the drug is off his mind (out of sight out of mind) the ring has had such control over all the bearers it will slowly destroy them. So for them they leave middle earth they call it the end of days, and it is the time of man.

In the final LOTR's why did Frodo have to leave with his uncle on the shipt? If the ring was destroyed why could he not saty in the Shire?

He didn't want to attract attention. The hobbits are really gossipy so if Frodo had just left immediately the story would be all over the Shire and the Black Riders would have heard it and found him.

Frodo should have left earlier but butterbur at the prancing pony in bree failed to forward a message from gandalf to frodo in the shire informing him to leave immediately. I believe that gadalf informed butterbur that if he didn't return in 3 days he was to send the message to frodo. butterbur was an old foolish forgetful hobbit.

Frodo left the shire beacause Gandalf was telling him that it was necessary to do so and Frodo likes Gandalf so of corse he's going to go along with it.
