Was Aragorn a big dummy?
Just think, you're Aragorn and you have to make a big decision
a) Go after Merry & Pippin
Pro: possibly save their lives
b) Go after Frodo
Pro: help destroy ring, save entire planet.
...and Aragorn chooses "A"! Was that a way to prioritize? Also, what did he propose to do when he caught up to the Orcs, who outnumbered him 50 to 1? Wave? If not saving the ring, wasn't his priority staying alive so he could lead some armies, or something?

he didnt mess up he didnt have a boat the last one they had they put boromir in and sent him down the river. also saromaun?* thought merry and pippen had the ring thats why they were captured.. if he found out who did have the ring and where he was goin he would of told his boss sauron?* and frodo would hav never succeded. thats why aragon went after merry and pipen

He knew that Frodo could do it by him self so he went after the others insted of leaveing them to die...He was loyal to Frodos friends,if it had been Frodo doing it he would have gone after them.

Yes, he was a dummy, But I agree with Catherine. Who is it that has so little exitement in their lives that they have to think up of these THINGS?!

Does anyone think that the person who came up with this is the same person who thought up the rubbish about Merry and Pippin not being of any use and the one about Tolkein really writing the books about the environment 'cause he was an environmentalist ahead of his time? I think it probably is, it's written in the same way and I would just like to say to that person, whoever you are, please stop trying to poke holes in the story line!

Hello peoples! It was Frodo's responsibility to take the ring to mordor and, as most of you have already stated, he would be tempted. And somebody had to save Merry and Pippin and there was really not much better to do at the time. The JK board is going down the tubes. It is slowly being brought back into the Harry Potter topics, but all the old people are gone! Vanda, been a long long time. I've missed your crustaceans;) The JK board has sorely missed you, and Alavra and Jay and Eric... all your crowd and the old people. Aragorn did the right thing. If Frodo had the bulk of the fellowship with him the closer he got to Mordor, the rings power would have taken them all one by one. If i was Aragorn i would have done the same!
