That should hire that Borzak guy as Kazak captain. He could wear that body thong thing and drive all the aliens wild.

There is only one reason why...by the 23rd century everyone realized that affirmative action was a dead political exercise. They actually decided that merit and ability, on a color blind basis, was an actually sound decision. Sorry, I scored one point too low on a college entrance exam. I needed to get a 95 or better percentile for being a white male, everyone else of either color or gender had a much lower percentile goal. May I ask one question? why is everyone so obsessed by any strong female characters being lesbian? Come on it is Sci Fi, not Girls gone wild for cripes sake.

First Enterprise is a Star Trek show before it is a UPN show so I am sorry that it is the only one besides wrestling tht is not an all black cast.
Only half the cast was white males. Remember that one of the 3 white males you are crying about was British it is not like a cast of all White American men for crying out loud.
Even in TNG Data, Wesley, O'Brien, Q, & Lt Brocoli were played by white males. In DS9 Odo, Quark, Dukat, Martak, and more were played by white males. I could continue but why bother.
The real problem is that YOU are a racist and can't stand the fact that there are more white males out there than other groups.
Get off your high horse and stop causing problems where there are none.

porthos, how about we make most of the crew irish? or maybe harland and wolffe built the good ship rainbow? hey, perhaps a better name would be the starship unity. it could be painted the colors of all the united nations flags and the crew could get along as well as all the delegates at the real united nations, which means they would all blame america for anything that goes wrong anywhere in the world or the universe while uncle sam picks up the bill for everyone. take care.

The guys that create these type of topics just like to wind us all up, so take no notice. Political correctness has gone mad - they want to see just how far they can push the envelope. TOS crew was multi-ethnic & likable, lets just leave it at that eh?!

all right, everyone wants an ethnically balanced crew, let's give them one. the new series will be STAR TREK: FAMILY OF MAN. and aboard the good starship rainbow we will have captain marsha wong, the first asian, openly lesbian starship captain. mr. jones will be a black african american transvestite, first officer and scientist. mr. mugabutto, will be the first samoan navigator in star fleet, who refuses to wear his uniform in favor of his grass skirt. mr. jumbee, will be a pygmy and chief of security. mr. muratelli will be the first itallian chief of engineering. ms. demos will be the first greek weapons officer. and mr. smith will be the token white person and male homosexual. oh yea, and ensign mendez will be the chef, who is always trying out exotic hispanic dishes on the crew. this diverse crew of happy explorers will take the starship rainbow to only the most politically correct planets. and the prime directive will be to party and be fabulous. now, i hope everyone is happy. take care.

It's not race-dividing rhetoric, its truth. Gene Roddenberry had a vision of humanity's future, not belonging mainly to white men, but to everyone, and when the current producers of the show don't uphold that vision, Star Trek's greatest legacy is let down.

neo, there are good people in this world wearing every color of skin. there are many different ethnic groups, but only one race. it is not fair to condem an entire group of people just because of the actions of a few hateful individuals. there are also racists out there wearing every color of skin, it is not a condition unique to white people. personally, my parents raised me to respect and treat everyone equally, and i'm a white southern male. now if you'll excuse me the cleaners just called and my robe and hood are ready. THAT WAS A JOKE. take care.

You want to talk racism. I went to Quark's in the Hilton, and was served by "hew-mans", not even a Ferengi in the Bar. On DS9 there's no "Hew-mans" at Quark's. We need to get a Star Trek show where there are no Earthlings of any color. Humans have been the focus of too many Trek shows. Let these humans keep their race problems on that dirty blue planet. Well, maybe just one gay, African guy for some humor.

I agree with Derek, but it is one hilarious joke to hear any caucasian say they want a token white or two on a black show.
Racism has caused so many problems and I don't think it's a lack of others in hollywood and Yorktown trying to break in the gate. Think about it; how many products are out there that make commercials? Yet 95% turn out to be white brothers and sisters, I don't get it. and is Nicolas Cage, Nick Nolte, bruce willis, Will Shatner, Nemoy, and so many others--are they racist and or prejudice? Where they before they became famous? Who knows.
I laugh love for ST especially Picard, Sisco and Chicote. still, this race thing is getting very tiring. but as long as whites are running cinema and such, this is an issue always. Maybe they are genetically poised to express the superiority complex in anyway not verbal, i don't know. still, there are wonderful persons out there and maybe they're the ones to aide in correcting it. just make sure all blacks who push for that change do not sell themselves out by behaving just as or possibly even worse--something that scares me for more--we are very strong, but incredibly stubborn.

I'm hearing you!! One of Star Trek's greatest aspects is the multiculturalism it trys to celebrate. instead of suggesting the galaxy will be explored by white folk with the odd token thrown in, humanity will unite as one and usher in the future with our diversity a thing of greatness. just a small point.

Look at the original series. The only "non-white humans" on the bridge were Uhura & Sulu.

Isn't it enough that people think us trekkies are a bunch of geeks? Do we really need to feed them the impression that we are gay geeks?
Let me guess, that all american image is irrelevant, and has nothing to do with the show's overall appeal to so manny.
