TV-Commentary - Earth II
Why didn't this Earth-hugging, granola chomping bunch last more than 1 season?

Why didn't the concept of a granola eating, Earth hugging, fervently recycling bunch of colonists last more than one season?

Here are some possible reasons why:
1) They spent more time hugging the earth than they did each other

2) They should have kept Gault around--he could've been their "Doctor Smith" character: "Puppet, why don't we go exploring a few miles off from the others and see what we find?"

3) The guys on the show, notable Antonio Sabato Jr. and Clancy Brown, looked almost embarrassed to be reading their lines. Both were tough guys who quickly became soft and sensitive granola chompers by the middle of the first season. And Morgan was a wimpy muffin from the beginning.

4) Most of the episodes were spent kissing up to the mud faced terrians, who, after giving Uly a lube job, did nothing but zap them with their electricity poles and make "blip blip" sounds

5) The whole conspiracy with the council made no sense. If the council really wanted the planet for its own, why didn't it send its own team in? Instead, they sent convicts. Does this really make sense?

This is possibly the lamest series since Starlost.... minus the ultra cheesy chroma key special effects.

I just saw the 1st 4 episodes. I think part of the weakness of the show was very naive, stupid characters. You'd think the 1st death (or near death) experience should have taught them about security procedures. Or maybe the abduction of the kid. Or maybe the 1st real death. Or maybe when their supplies would go missing. etc. Idiots. And notice how they never tell each other of any important significant thing, until it's too late (dead, etc). And spank your kids and teach them some discipline, unless you want them kidnapped again or killed. Duh! The female was a very naive, weak leader. Eveyone is all so trusting; even those who are suspicious are still naively stupid. The show had a good premise, but weak, naive, stupid characters. It's one thing if they have to deal with problems they can't avoid; it's another thing when their naivety/stupidity brings them about. It gets annoying after a while.
