Who was the best captain--Roy Scheider, Michael Ironsides, or Darwin?
Consider that Roy Scheider was the irritable but sensitive Captain, and Michael Ironsides was the no-nonsense Captain. But, really, wasn't it the Dolphin who saved the day, most of the time? He was always the one going out there, nudging buoys and torpedoes. Couldn't it really be said that Darwin was the real Captain?

Schieder was the developer and best captain. He was the perfect in-between. The best of Kirk and Picard as far as captains go. Like Picard in that he used his mind more so than muscle to navigate difficult situations. The surrogate father to Lucas, just as Picard was to Wesley. Both Lucas and Wesley were child geniuses.
Like Kirk, because there were also situations where he never made it to the count of three before firing.

the seaquests best captain has to have been roy scheider, ten out of ten hands down.

the show rocked. the writing was childlike though. the camera work was flawless. they also had good actors but changed them to frequently. what a shame.

I don't know who the idiot was that posted about ironsides being a good captian...but they MUST have been on CRACK when they posted that message! Ironsides was an idiot as far as I am concerned...he had the personality of a rock, he totally changed what the show was about from peaceful exploration to making seaquest a war machine. Very stupid...no wonder it was cancelled!!
Roy was the original captian and the show went downhill totally when he left! I didn't like the writing of the show either...blowing up the seaquest and the end of season 1 and 2? Then adding aliens and spaceships?? Then having seaquest land in a cornfield in season 3 after the previous season killed everyone off and the seaquest being blown to bits??
Sorry, but the writer and producers of this show screwed it up ROYALLY! Personally, I think it was merciful that they cancelled the show, if they couldn't come up with any ideas better than those they had!!

I miss Seaquest so much! Roy Scheider was great because he was gentle and kind and not so gung ho. Lucas was fabulous. I probably watched the show for Lucas and Darwin as much as for Roy Scheider. I wish it would come back in syndication.
