Do you remember the scene where Xena is making out with Lao Ma? That's when Xena was bad and Lao Ma was trying to make her good. Do you think if Borias hadn't walked in on them during an imtimate moment and committed womanus interruptus that Lao Ma-Ma might've succeeded in making Xena good, or at least a reliable girlfriend?

No because than not all people can relate to it. They left it ambiguous so viewers can see what they'd like (be it gay, straight, bi, whatever).

I watched this episode again recently and alas, it did not have the je ne se quoi (excuse the spelling) of a sub-text; it was just mouth to mouth buddy breathing. Question; would the show be as good if it was as open as, say, The L Word?
