Why did Vorlon Ambassador Kosh let himself be slaughtered?
If Vorlon Ambassador Kosh knew that the Shadows were going to kill him in advance, why didn't Vorlon Ambassador Kosh simply leave until Kosh could return with guards, or even a tougher encounter suit?
Or why didn't Vorlon Ambassador Kosh ask Captain John Sheridan for protection? We know that the guns of Londo Mollari's Centauri guards can kill Shadows; probably PPG's could have too.

I think it had to do, mostly, with appearances. Like the Centuari who stayed on the Island of Salini (Into the Fire) to make the shadows think all was well. If Kosh had run, the Shadows would have known that it was the Babylon 5 staff negotiating with him directly for assistance, and might have destroyed the station. As it stood, the shadows just struck the first vorlon they could.
Since Kosh had deposited a portion of himself into Sheridan, it was not quite the sacrifice it was seen to be.

It is the Doppler effect.
When a Police siren comes towards you, it sound higher, when it goes away it sounds lower.
Likewise light from an approaching object is shifted blue, light from a receding object is shifted red.
They should have used red rather than yellow, but the blue shift for incoming is very scientific

Kosh's decision to assist Captain Sheridan against the Shadows's would come with a price. This per the agreement with the Shadows that had been in place for along time. If Kosh had resisisted, some other action would take place. I suspect Kosh knew he could place part of himself in Sheridan to be of assistance when the Battle came to a climax.

just for my own peace of mind are they blue 'wormhole' things coming in and yellow as they leave? or another reason?
Thanks.

I have a couple of theories about this one.
1) Given what we learn about the Shadow/Vorlon dynamic in Year 4, the Vorlons broke a major taboo by becoming directly involved in combat against the Shadows. Kosh may have been a sacrificial lamb thrown to the Shadows as a way to "balance the books".
2) Kosh did fight back, but faced a number of Shadow warriors. Badly outnumbered, there was no way he was going to win - at least without seriously damaging the station.
So then why did Londo's personal guard take out Morden's "associates" so easily? Simple: those Shadows were simply advisors, not prepared for conflict. Londo's actions were certainly not expected!
