Was Crusade "the sequel that couldn't fly"?
I just finished watching the Crusade series on the sci-fi channel. On the whole I found it pretty uneven.
I really liked the Galen character--he was on the right side without being a goody two-shoes, and there was an interesting sense of mystery and power about him. The Captain wasn't bad either, but the spock like first officer with the odd face (huge cheekbones), and the Delenn photocopy (Purina?) and the female version of Dr. Franklin didn't add much (the actress who played Dr. Chambers was much better in a La Femme Nikita episode where she tried to strangle Nikita with her thighs.)
Some of the episodes were really good, like the time where they went to an alien city where visitors were dissected, or the time they went to another alien city which looked a lot like the first alien city except that nanobots were making them go mad. But for every good episode there were really bad ones, such as the X-Files ripoff episode, and many other episodes where the characters spent a lot of time dancing, or playing cards, or just sitting around.
Ironically I heard the series was canceled because JMS refused to add more action to the series, as TNT demanded; it would have been better, for him and the series, if he had complied.

I was only a start, and for that much i'm thankful. But most importantly, for the consistency with the whole of Babylon 5 series. Now that i have all of them and watched many times i can understand how the story was shaping up. As a first attempt, it would pass. What i couldn't take or accept is the quality of "The Legend of the Rangers". Being the last B5 movie ever made, they should have considered making it really good or not at all. I fear many fans would agree it was more of the first. I was only shatterred by play of Adreas Katsulas, or how vorlons would say, "the last of him". May the man rest in peace that he wished to others in his life through his genious character G'Kar.

Crusade was the B5 equivalent of Galactica 1980. Ok, maybe not that bad, but close.
