Help rescue Jack ONeill (Richard Dean Anderson) from slavery! (click here) TV-Commentary - Stargate (TV) Why was Stargate SG-1 cancelled? After ten years Stargate SG-1 was canceled for poor ratings. That's a long time for a show to run. Why do you think people stopped watching it? Some people think the show had run out of ideas. Others thought the show lost it's sexual tension when Dr. Frasier (Sam's girlfriend) was killed off. But the real reason people stopped watching was largely because of a lack of humor and chemistry between the characters. Ben Browder tried to be the younger Colonel O'Neill substitute but wasn't nearly as amusing. He had no real relationship with the other characters, and no amusing banter. Vala tried to be cute but wasn't very interesting either. And Daniel had no one left to fight with. And Teal'c cheeks were getting so flabby that his face looked like his buttocks. The characters' interaction with each other was all bland. Also, some of the stories were very slow paced. There was an episode where SG-1 got a sickness that made them fall asleep. That was boring. The episode where they go to General McFat's cabin was also boring. Any episode with the holographic doctor from Voyager was also boring. That combined with a lack of chemistry between the characters made for a dull show. oh, and by the way, the 200th episode was largely unfunny--the bald nerd with the glasses was annoying, as were the "actor SG-1" guys. I confess the show had reached its peak a while back and was coasting on poor scripts. But as a old military man, I loved the O'neil banter, quick come backs and adolesence disrespect for authority. He was what I wish I could be at times in the real world. We will have to wait a few decades so the program can be reinvented.        posts on 9/7/2006 6:25:57 PM I Haven't seen the 200th episiode yet (im in stupid old England). Please dont tell me its a dissapointment.Im one of those stupid romantics that are still holding out hopes for Jack and sam realising their undying love for each other having some form of passionate ebrace and spending the rest of their lives together. Please tell me somthing to that effect happens.. please please let it happen! Sure its getting old, but you dont have to kick 'em while they're down. I think its still a great show. The 200th episode was a "stand-alone." No real plot but they wanted it to actualy be an episode.
