The plotline doesn't involve Ebonics. The style of language they use is related to pictogram writing, This is what the Native Americans used to record their experiences and history. It uses pictures to express ideas instead of individual words and sentences. They also spoke that way. They could describe a hunt in a series of ideas that they could visualize and understand. That was why during WW2 the U.S. utilized Native Americans, especially Navajo, to "Code Talk"" to each other. This form allowed the transmission of orders and reports on the battlefield that could not be decoded by the Germans and Japanese. So in actuality, this episode was probably inspired by that piece of history. Also Paul Winfeild was a great actor with immense stage presence, unfortunatley he passed away shortly after that episode, and he made that a memorable episode. And generally ship crews resemble each other cause they come from the same place.

Yeah, I think it could be about ebonics... but there is no way that the kind of culture that makes ebonics would succeed into the stars as that group did
