(click here) TV-Commentary - Doctor Who Best Episodes: The Robots of Death The Doctor and Leela land on a giant sand miner manned by a skeleton crew of humans wearing heavy makeup and run by a large crew of robots. Everything goes wrong from the start as a crewman gets murdered and the Doctor and Leela get blamed. It takes some time but the Doctor soon realizes that the robots are rising up and revolting against the humans. One by one the V's (vocs) and even their leader SuperVoc 7, are being reprogrammed to kill. One of the crewmembers is a robot suffragist named Tarran Kappel who hates people but loves robots. The Doctor discovers his identity but almost too late as Kappel slowly burns out his mind using a laserson probe. Only the intervention of a friendly robot, D.84 (a spy for the company), saves the day and the Doctor is able to neutralize the evil robots. Tarren Kappel gets choked by one of his own. Click here to post a message        The commentator Lance Greenfield posts on 1/14/2006 12:52:05 AM The robots of death is definitely my all time favorite story.. i can honestly say after 20 years i still remember it well and love watching it.. i always wanted D.84 to live and go off in the tardis with the doctor as a companion, and was disappointed when he died at the end.. back when i first watched it. still even today I'd have liked to see D.84 take up with the doctor.. it was a classic episode.. but following that Robot would be my second choice, then Pyramids of Mars as 3 then The Seeds of Doom as 4 Genesis of the Daleks as 5 actually all the tom baker and Sarah Jane smith episodes were good..        The commentator Adam posts on 9/28/2005 1:32:14 AM I wrote a Doctor Who story in which Doctor #6 returns to Storm Mine 4 and meets Aristotle. I was completely obssessed with it, and am now amazed at the stuff i can find about it on the Net!! I may just dig out the video and sit down with my son and enjoy it all over again with him (he is a big fan of the new Dr.Who).
