TV-Commentary - Doctor Who
The best Cyberman episode of all time
The best Cyberman episode of all time was Revenge of the Cybermen, the one where the Cybermen tried to destroy Voga, the asteroid of gold. Gold was a threat to cybermen because it could suffocate their chest units.

So they arranged for a traitor to decimate the crew of the nearby Nerva Beacon and boarded the beacon and took the survivors prisoner, including Doctor Who. They forced them to put on nova bombs and to march to the center of the asteroid where the bombs would be detonated. The straps holding the bombs were boobytrapped and couldn't be removed, and the cybermen tracked their progress on radar.

I won't tell you exactly how Doctor Who got out of this one, but it was a very, very tense episode, and one of his greatest challenges!

Iv'e seen all the episodes and hae to say that the toom of the cybermen is the best, then the moonbase. Patrick Troughton played the part perfectly to the character.

Earthshock is the best, because it is more than the sum of its parts. The return of the Cybermen was like an event at the time which made a lasting impact on a generation of viewers. The death of Adric was also a landmark moment, revealing that the Doctor could lose or fail to save his friends, and it hung over all remaining 80s stories, the possibility that another regular could die. The visuals and the suspense is also superb, directed with flair by Peter Grimwade and the black Cyber androids are extremely cool and menacing, too.

The reason I put an s in parethysis is because there are three episodes that I like the best: The Tenth Planet I would have liked it better if part four would have survived but the first three were good as well. The second one which is equally as good is Earthshock. I hated to see those women get killed on there they were too pretty to be killed off like that. The third one that is also an equall is the five doctors which that robot from the game of rassalon took out its share of cybernetic metal. The invasion would have been good if part one and four hadn't been missing. Tomb of the cyberman wasn't very exciting the cybermen looked like they just stood there also it took a while to see the cyberman as well as revenge of the cybermen. There wasn't much to Attack of the cybermen. The cybermen didn't do much killing. Silver Nemises was Boring as well.

I have seen and got every cyberman story out (including the surviving episodes of 'Moonbase and 'wheel in space') and the one I always think of is 'Tomb of the cybermen', some people will probably say either 'Tenth Planet', which had the cybermen enter Doctor who and featured the first regeneration. I think this would come 3rd. Others would say 'Earthshock' this is an incredable episode and the best story with the cybermen in colour, and the death of Adric (second out of three companions that died). But tomb has the cybermen coming out of tombs and terrorising a stranded group of archeologists, some of which want control of the cybermen and a surprising ending (I thought it was). Grt this on DVD now!

The tomb of the cybermen was the best, although i dont think any of the best doctor who stories ever have involved cybermen

re: the last comment You know, i just finished watching TENTH PLANET a couple of days ago...while the show suffers from the typical problems of 60s sci-fi (come on, the approach of another planet doesn't mess with Earth's gravity or ocean), the Cybermen themselves were fantastic. The voices were particularly eeriely fascinating. I don't know why they replaced it with the second-rate James Earl Jones voices. I loved Mondas -- the upside-down version of Earth. And, of course, Hartnell as the Doctor is always great to see (Ah, the Doctor. Splendid chaps, all of them). The Beeb has said that the Cybermen will be reappearing in season 27 to face off against David Tennant's Doctor. We should hope it's as good as Tenth Planet, but how impressive can the silvery robots be almost twenty years after the Borg were created for Star Trek: Next Gen?

to me the best cyberman episode was the original, namely "the tenth planet". the manner in which these graceful silver giants appear is awesome (even if in black and white). just the way that snow blizzard is depicted and how the figures appear one by one, their head lamps glowing and how they enter the tardis. i even like their voices. i wish this adventure was re-done in colour and for the cinema too. imagine what a big boost it will be for these creatures. i love the daleks to look at but feel very embarrassed when hearing their voices. they sound like little old ladies with nagging voices and sore throats. give me cybermen and iceworriars anyday, even yeti. Rajeev.

Tomb of the Cybermen is by far the best. One of only two times(with Invasion) where the Cybermen were truly scary. The Cybermen are my favorite doctor who monsters, so I find there emasculation in later episodes excedingly sed. The Cybermen just don't work in colour.

...I have seen the full available episoces of the Cybermen adventures in Doctor who lore, and read the unavailable ones...The Tenth Planet was interesting...The Moonbase was basic and full of flaws, but fair at best and the same goes for Wheel in Space...The Invasion was a bit long but bearable...Revenge of the Cybermen was a great story, but Earthshock rocked!!! Classic stuff!! Attack of the Cybermen contained some erie material that suggested more could have been done with it...espcially with Bates and Stratton...Silver Nemisis kinda missed the mark, but it was a noble effort towards the end...especially Ace's duel with multiple cybermen towards the final scene...(and in Remembrance of the Daleks, right?)

The commentator Paul posts on 6/25/2005 3:49:46 PM

The best cybermen story was the Tomb of the Cuybermen. It knocked the socks of every other cybermen story that came after it.

The commentator Os posts on 6/15/2005 8:26:41 AM

Ah, come on...too easy. The best Cyberman episode ever? *Earthshock*! Not only did this mark the long-awaited return of the Cybermen (in 14 seasons, they appeared once?!?!?), but Adric dies. The glory of this event cannot be understated. This assumes, of course, that we are not including *Five Doctors* or *Carnival of Monsters*, which might be in the running.

The commentator just me posts on 6/14/2005 6:28:00 PM

quit being so pathetically stupid The Tenth Planet is by far the best cybermen story ever. Revenge is far worse than tenth planet, moonbase, invasion, earthshock. get a clue dude
