TV-Commentary - Doctor Who
Who were the Daleks?
The Daleks were a race of beings invented by the Kaleds, a race of beings at war with the Thals. The inventor of the Daleks was a wheelchair bound cripple named Davros. He wanted to create a new race of fighters to fight the Thals. So he took mutated Kaled brains (they looked like sponges) and put them inside wheeled machines and mounted them with guns.

His creations survived the war and went out to conquer a huge chunk of the galaxy. They were aggressive conquorers and had no positive emotions, despite the Doctor's attempt to teach them to have a sense of humor. The only thing they never conquored was a simple set of stairs.

Tomz posts on 10/18/2006 5:11:18 PM

why did they not hover sooner? it took them 20 years and about 4000 dalek years for them to make them. I mean its not that hard

Sue, since the Daleks are cute do you want to engage in relations with them? Let us know what that plunger attachment is really for and if it turns you on.

I hate to say this, because of all the possible hate email I'll probably get from the old Dr Who fans; the one who were watching the show way back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's when I was spending most of my time being an unfertilized ova, but here goes: The Daleks are waaay too dated! They're no longer scary, just cute! Sorry.

       posts on 6/1/2006 1:13:47 PM

The darleks were THE cutest thing of all time ( including K-9) and the most evil and i LOVE them so much. i am soooo perverse but its always nice to read some complete nutters post isnt it?

I'm a Dr Who newbie and I only like the new series and the 1996 movie, so bare with me here. How many movies did thay actually make from 1989-2004? I looked the show up on a SciFi encyclopedia and they said 2.

       posts on 4/26/2006 10:22:31 PM

Firstly, Darrell, the specific story that you are thinking of is Remembrance of the Daleks, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Doctor and Sophie Aldred as Ace. To answer your question as to which stories starred which Doctor, here is the complete list (as memory serves): William Hartnell: 1. The Daleks 2. The Dalek Invasion of Earth 3. The Space Museum (briefly) 4. The Chase 5. The Dalek Masterplan Patrick Troughton: 6. The Power of the Daleks 7. The Evil of the Daleks Jon Pertwee: 8. Day of the Daleks 9. Frontier in Space 10. Death to the Daleks Tom Baker: 11. Genesis of the Daleks (with Davros) 12. Destiny of the Daleks (with Davros) Peter Davison: 13. The Five Doctors (briefly) 14. Resurrection of the Daleks (with Davros) Colin Baker: 15. Revelation of the Daleks (with Davros) Sylvester McCoy: 16. Remembrance of the Daleks Paul McGann - None Christopher Eccleston: 17. Dalek 18. Badwolf/The Parting of the Ways David Tennant - None as of yet You may also want to look at the two Doctor Who movies (starring Peter Cushing as Doctor Who) - They are called Doctor Who and the Daleks, and Dalek Invasion Earth 2150. Be warned, however, that these two movies do not fit in with the TV series chronology. They are big screen adaptations of The Daleks and The Dalek Invasion of Earth respectively. Good luck.

OK, an odd one but I was given a square CD about 10 years ago that had about 5 different and brilliant main theme remixes (Ron Grainger would have loved them!). I gave it away and regret it cos i really would love to trace a copy of the Terror Mix. Any ideas or anyone have an mp3 they could share? Thanks all

Who were the Daleks. I think they were 4th rate actors who hid inside the robot shell bodies because they couldnt get a job doing anything other than moaning EX-TERMINATE EX-TERMINATE. There are also indication they were wee bit sex crazed and used to chase nekkid women around their spaceships according the latest Daleks DVD.

The commentator Darren Wright posts on 2/12/2006 1:07:17 PM

Hey Sue there was 1 dalek episode I forgot to mention "Power of the Daleks" which marked the first episode of the Patric Troughton era

The commentator Subhan posts on 2/12/2006 11:20:56 AM

Please could you send me some information on Daleks. Thank you

LordAstaroth posts on 1/26/2006 7:25:03 AM

I think the time war concept really was to try and make some sort of sence about what happened in rememberance of the daleks with oh woops i just destroyed skaro and kill all the daleks... which was rubbish if you ask me... But then again the fact it was the daleks in the time war and no a rubbish race like the sontarians was the best option if you ask me.

The commentator Darren Wright posts on 1/3/2006 9:06:17 PM

Hey Sue, There are 12 existing Dalek episodes: The Daleks, The Dalek Invasion of Earth, The Chase, Day of the Daleks, Frontier in Space, Planet of the Daleks, Death to the Daleks, Genesis of the Daleks,Destiny of the Daleks,Resurection of the Daleks,Revelation of the Daleks, Rememberance of the Daleks. I think there are 2 more episodes but they are lost Evil of the Daleks and The Dalek Master Plan

aliciaskywalker posts on 7/21/2005 2:26:28 PM

Yes - they were able to fly in the latest series, so they can get up stairs now. This new ability comes to light in the first Dalek episode of the Christopher Eccleston series when the 'last Dalek' chases Rose and the pathetic Adam. I mean, they said "Oh ha ha, it can't get up the stairs, it hasn't got any legs" and then THEY STAYED AND WATCHED IT! How stupid is that? If there was a lethal killing machine just below me, I would not just stand there and gloat over it! *takes a quick breath*. I would RUN AWAY FAST. If they had actually been sensible and run away while they had a few seconds to get away then Rose would not have been left alone with the mad Dalek.

Titus posts on 6/18/2005 8:14:46 PM

You'll find Daleks conquered the stairs in at least 2 episodes, "Remembrance of the Daleks" and "Dalek". Its a common misconception that Daleks can't climb stairs, but they have levitator technology which lets them climb anything and exterminate those annoying people who climbed the stairs to be clever:).

The commentator Karl posts on 5/14/2005 9:32:31 PM

In answer to Sue... There were many stories of the "classic series" that involved the Daleks. They all have the word "Dalek" or "Daleks" in the title. Eventually the pattern was to name each Dalek story "[Whatever] of the Daleks." The big "Time War" which keeps being referred to in the new series did not happen in the old series. In other words, it is something that happened off screen between the two series. However, there were a number of stories in the old series in which it seemed that the Daleks had been destroyed for good, but they always seemed to come back for another story. I bet we haven't really seen the last of the Daleks.

sue posts on 5/5/2005 12:49:10 PM

Can somebody tell me how many dalek episodes there were and what the name of the final one when they all die is called? my children are fascinated by them after the new episode last week.
