Doctor Theopolis spoke perfectly; couldn't they program Twiki to do the same? Come to think of it, why couldn't they give Dr. Theopolis arms and legs like Twiki, so he could walk around on his own? And why was his computer brain shaped like a smiley face on a canteen? But Twiki was not the only machine to have a voice change. Dr. Theopolis was voiced by Howard F. Flynn during the pilot and "Planet of the Slave Girls", and by Eric Server thereafter. I think Flynn actually gave Theopolis more character. Server made him sound like a transistor radio, and his cadence reminded me of Charlie Brown for some reason.        Acid posts on 2/22/2005 7:49:09 PM I think the shows writers and creators were just telling a story and putting in characters with what they thought was cute or interesting or whatever characteristics at the time. Bdbdbdbdbd was sure better than Twikki's second season voice - I'd rather he mad fart noises than that second season voice. He lost the dirty old man and became a smurf WTF?? You've got to remember this was 1978. Computer parts were more expensive back then. Maybe the rational was that robots were made as cost effective as possible. The thinkers didn't need legs and arms so don't spend extra money on that. The workers didn't need to speak well so don't spend extra money on that.        Kent posts on 2/22/2005 3:30:43 AM Twiki sounds a little bit like the Tasmanian Devil when he speaks (not the yelling and spitting part). It's also essentially the same voice as that barnyard dog in the Foghorn Leghorn cartoons. I guess it's Blanc's miscellaneous voice.
