I cannot wait for more of her books to come out. I'm done with The Shadow Queen already, where are the others? Does Anne Bishop have any other books in the works? I didn't think I would like any of her books more than the Blood Jewel series but I was wrong. Sebastian and Belladonna are just as good.

I do believe that from now on I will compare every man I date to the court males of Jaenelle Angelline

Anne Bishop has inspired me to write my own series of books like hers

I totally agree with Aralyn. The ring is punishment, prevention would be to put Daemon or whomever in pain at ALL times.

Aralyn posts on 2/17/2006 3:14:27 AM

I just want to point out that ALL punishments are supposted to prevent you from doing what ever it was again. Or else what's the point? A TRUE prevention would be a proactive (not reactive, like the RIng) force- in dog terms, the negative "Nuh-uh" you say when you KNOW they're just about to stick their head in the garbage can- rather than beating the cr-hap out of them after they do it. The correction isn't a punishment, but a prevention. A hostile act after the fact would be considered punishment.

Does anyone know where we can send fan mail to Anne Bishop or something. I want to write her for a school project, but I can't seem to find any address!

Has anyone read this one yet???? Does it hold true to the style of the others? I know its' been out awhile but I haven't bought it because it's an odd sized book.

The commentator Arianna posts on 12/30/2005 4:31:18 PM

Any object that is used for punishment is also inherently preventative. For example electric dog collars punish dogs for going past a predetermined boundary. Eventually the dog is going to learn to stay in the yard and not get zapped so through punishment you have PREVENTED the dog from running away. I know it's crude to use a dog, but it is the same basic concept.

The Ring of Obedeance was an object for punishment, not prevention.Ta~mirsha

OML!! just had to say it to sound like my horid school cheerleaders!! Anyway, I think Daemon is WAY hot*er than any guy I have ever heard of. But Maarken, Rohan, Kazaander, Chay, ANdry, And Pol are really H*T too!! Lucivar is h*t (they all are). This is in NOO particular order!!

       Vanda De'lore posts on 10/8/2005 2:42:26 AM

No, she's got the right idea here. The Ring of Obedience is a spelled object, and it does severly limit the abilities of the wearer--which is why only another female can take it off. If Daemon had tried to break it without draining his jewels, it would have been extremely painful in punishment from Dorothea. And if it hadn't taken so much out of his jewels, he would have broken free earlier. He just needed something to live for, to fight for, and to risk everything for. I agree-Jaenelle is sooooo lucky. Although Lucivar sounds pretty sexy, too. I also like Jared from "The Invisible Ring." He's probably my favorite character in AB, closely followed by the usuals: Daemon, Lucivar, Saetan...you know. And Blaed from the IR, too. He's so cute! Oh, I'm rambling again! Kiss kiss!

what are you guys talking about i really want to know

The commentator Silhouette posts on 10/7/2005 3:54:32 PM

i dont think the ring was to hold their powers in check - slaves are not suppoded to use their jewel an dwhen they use it it alerts the person w/ the primary ring that you used it - Daemon never had restrictions on his full use of power - he was just punished if he did use it so when he used his black or red even he tried to be sneaky. Dorthea is NOT a queen. She is a just a just a black widow priestess. the ring is to control jeweled males in a crude and turtorous fashion by bringing pain to leash them in to submission. still doesnt solve the question at hand

The commentator Arianna posts on 10/6/2005 10:56:50 PM

First, remember that Zuulaman was an island, so it is not like Saetan wiped out a culture in the sense that Jaenelle destroyed the tainted Blood. However, he did destroy the people, their customs, and the island itself. Second, the Ring of Obedience is a spelled object. Queens, namely Dorothea used Craft to create it. The Ring is designed to prohibit a Jeweled male from using his power, or from using his power without the knowledge of his ruling queen. Daemon was forced to drain all of his jewels to destroy the object that was supposed to keep him from doing exactly that. Lucivar was astonished that Daemon broke the Ring, and we never know whether or not Saetan could have done it. Also, when Saetan destroyed Zuulaman, there was nothing holding him back. He was not wearing any Ring of Obedience. Andulvar and Lucivar are afraid of Saetan because of Zuulaman, which only emphasizes the fact that Daemon has more power, and less control. If Daemon was provoked, he could have destroyed Zuulaman just as easily, if not more easily, than Saetan. If Saetan, is afraid of Daemon, what is he really capable of? Both Saetan and Lucivar were ucomfortably aware that the only thing really keeping Daemon in check was Jaenelle.

No, I was not saying that I was not human. I merely used the term "you" to specify it to the reader. I was hoping that relating my explanation to the reader would make it easier for them to understand. Not that I wouldn't mind being Blood, but they're not that different from us are they? By the way, I'm seventeen.

The commentator Silhouette posts on 10/6/2005 3:53:42 PM

High Lord is just a title - has nothing to do w/ the jewels - he's a high lord because he rules Hel and has no equal in that title.

The commentator Phedre posts on 10/6/2005 3:53:48 AM

it's coz Saten is the High Lord of Hell. and although Deamon is more powerful, he is not the High Lord, i think that coz he is the High Lord, he can stuff the Deamon could only dream of. but that's what i think, what about the rest of ya??
