(click here) TV-Commentary - Battlestar Galactica Why did they always shine that light in Baltar's face? One of the great mysteries of Battlestar Galactica was why they shined that light in Baltar's face when he was on that high chair in that cylon baseship (or is it base ship?). Come to think of it, it's also unclear how he gets up to that high chair. Is there a staircase in the back? Or does a centurion give him a boost to climb up every time? Getting back to the light, isn't it hot and doesn't it cause Baltar to sweat a lot? What does Baltar do up there, he doesn't seem to have any screens or consoles or anything? And how can Baltar see anything with the light shining in his face? Of course, the light is there to make him look both imposing and sinister, but it doesn't have a good functional purpose. The sole reason why Baltar's face had that shine is because he is an idiot. There. When the cylons let him live he had a full head of hair. So he had to advertise that cylon Rogane.        The commentator John McDaniel posts on 1/17/2005 6:15:38 PM Baltar was a genius with insight that greatly aided the Cylon cause, but I think that he had a serious Napoleon complex. I think that by using the fancy lighting and the tall chair Baltar was 'perching' to make himself 'larger than life'. We see this going on with our polititions. Watch Tony Blair for a while and you will see what I mean. Prime Minister Blair appears to be of a normal height, but he is always doing weird things to make himself 'taller'. He regularly wears 'Herman Munster Frankenstien' platform shoes and always has to stand on a box behind the podium. One time he had his picture taken with Dick Chaney on some stairs with Tony on a higher step. President Clinton despite being 6'2" tall was not immune to this. He wore 'lift' shoes which look much better that than the platform shoes that the Prime Minister wears. President Clinton also always had to have the box to stand on when he is at the podium. President Bush seems to always be well lit. Baltar is a genius. I'm sure that he saw how important it would be in the future to be high up and well lit.
