That two-part episode was just on Ion. Aaah, to once again hear the sounds of the EMS Vocoder 5000 and a ring-modulator to boot.

i believe the ice planet was really a moon, and i don't think moons rotate on their axis, of course i could be wrong. but if the moon or planet did or didn't rotate, why didn't the fleet just pass the planet from the other side? i also find it hard to believe that the galactica couldn't take the pulsar out with its own weapondry. those solium missiles packed quite a wallop. take care.

With three Cylon base ships dogging the Galactica, maybe the Colonial Fleet didn't have enough time to wait for the planet to rotate and take the gun out of range. After all, Venus orbits the sun every 224 days, but it takes almost a year for it to rotate on its axis--thus, its "day" is longer than its "year." When Baltar kept attacking the battlestar to force it to keep on going, I wish they would've shown more of guys like Jolly, Greenbean, and so on, instead of just showing the stock footage of Vipers vs. Raiders. This would've given some of the secondary characters in the series more of a chance to shine. (I wish they would've shown Brie--from "Lost Planet of the Gods"--in this episode, during the Cylon attacks! After all, she became a Viper pilot, and she was certainly easy on the eyes!! Maybe they could've shown her walking around in her flight-suit underwear again!!) I always wondered what happened to Commander Croft at the end of the episode. He had been a convict on the prison barge, but presumably earned his freedom after blowing up the gun. He was in the military before; I thought they might show him in a future episode, perhaps piloting a Viper, but they never did. You'd think the Galactica could use all the pilots they could get their hands on.

actually, the original galactica is the greatest sci-fi epic of all time, unlike that new piece of felgercarb on the sci-fi channel. let's see if anyone knows who katie sackoff and jamie bamber are thirty years from now.

I disagree Killer...I think it should have been called "Hunky and Dory in the Land of Food."

One of the main problems with Battlestar Bonanza was some of the disjointed plots that the writers shot out. The Guns of Navarone in Space is what it should have been called.

What great stuff!
Just finished watching galactica and ive gotta say after a lot of people putting it down i really enjoyed it - right from the mini-series to the end of the 1st series with a shock ending to match!
Yes i know it looks cheap but with universal giving them another 20 episodes for a second season they can put more in and shows why star trek has fallen.
I hope they can continue this as i think they're on a roll with this one!
C Ya!

I agree with Kent's post. In fact, I think there should be an absence of dialogue from TV and film altogether. Let's go back to the silent film age...when they really knew how to make movies.

Very true. When attempts are made to incorporate expositional dialogue into the show or film itself (see Star Wars Ep. I & II), the results are usually disastrous. And disastrously boring.

Those really interested in BG would be well advised to read the books, available at almost any second hand bookstore. they give a lot of background information that gives weight to what we saw on TV.
Remember, TV is primarily a visual, action oriented medium, so there is nota lot of emphasis on exposition...

Well if we started putting facts into a fictious sci fi show then You'll not be able to suspend disbelief. You should just sit back, and enjoy it. Then you'll have a good time.
As for the gun, note... not all planets rotate, or rotate so slowly it takes more than a year for venus to turn around once. the moon always has the same side facing earth. Ergo why do you assume this most likely captured ice planet on the edge of a paticular solar system, so.
Its from 1978, they were all on acid back then.
