it is a decent show. And it wasn t tht the ancients didn t have enough power the wraith had #'s. in atlantis they only have to face three hive ships to start not the whole wraith army. while the wraith with the ancients were having an inter-galactic battle.

The anccients were not wiped out they fled back to earth, not because the wrath were more advanced but because they were out numbered big time, they could win every battle but not win the war. I sussest if you dont like, dont watch...

I think the Ancients/Alterans were wiped out by a number of different things, not just the Wraith. Atlantis was just 1 outpost of thousands in The Old Alliance (an organization that sounds a lot like a baby Federation).

Just read the first post here and i disagree you say 'how they take out wraith with Auto weapons and Bazookas' but it says the Wraith didnt beat the ancients through firepower was through being Out numbered, even if the ancients did have Auto Weapons and Bazookas would of most likely had same outcome because the number of wraith

At least Star Trek, other than the original series, had everyone using universal translators that converted everything into English and even then many races spoke other languages. Besides, no one is supposed to ask questions like why does everyone in another galaxy and other planets speak English and why not Russian, Chinese, French, German or Pig Latin. Personally I think having the Goauld speaking German would make them sound more ominous like the Nazis. Ok, so maybe when Daniel Jackson was ascended he convinced the others to implant English language skills in all other people and aliens. I think Bull Shannon from Night Court who was abducted by alien from Jupiter in the series finale should show up some alien world where SG-15 finds him and bring him home where its revealed he is a Goauld spy and Tealc tears his head off and uses it as a bowling ball.

Does SG-1 really have real live GIMPS running everything? The ones on black leather suits and red balls in their mouths like in Pulp Fiction? Dont get SCI-FI any more so syndication is still a year behind. Gimps, who would have thunk it.
As far as Atlantis goes, the characters, as some have said, are dry, uninteresting an boring. They have the WHITE GUY in charge, the smart WHITE WOMAN , the BLACK GUY who mostly just stands around looking ominous and the WHITE SMART geeky GUY characters with a bunch other miscellaneous cardboard type extras just like in SG-1. They at least could have thrown in an Asian or an Indian.
Atlantis is not bad, its just not really going anywhere - they fight the Wraith and win using machine guns and clever tricks. Suprise, suprise. A real suprise twist would be for the Atlantis crew to be wiped out and a few brainwashed survivors and used as pawns to help them invade the Milky Way Galaxy. SG-1 is definitely long in the tooth, they will run it into the ground. Probably at the end of Season 10. Once Atlantis begins recycling early SG-1 episodes, its days will be numbered.

SGA is great, i was abit worried that it would be wank at first but after the first few episodes i was well into it and couldnt wait to see more. Overall i think bar a few outstanding episodes on SG1 season 8, Atlantis was much better. After watching the first episode of Season 9 of SG1 and of season 2 of atlantis i am much more excited about watching atlantis now.sg1 is goin downhill with o'niell bailing for his kids and sam not in it anymore and these 2 gimps for cornel and general....

Is it just me or is it just SG-1 with revers role's?? like the main person in charge now a chik..(Hamand) also a female (T) with the same alien expresions (dr Carter) Now that anoying guy.... Go's on and on like that.. But i tell you what im sooo scared of the long haired legolas look alikes... Why o why did they not just spend the money on the SG-1 show might have payed a few good writers to do a few better show idea's. (sigh) Lets hope they realize what they did wrong. I want the good old days back.

After watching the pilot of SGA I was reasonably impressed, and was awaiting more action thrilled episodes, like those in SG1. How wrong I was, I am now changing the channel and getting bored!! It is becoming Star Trek Voyager! Too much talking and not anough action. And Wier needs to chill a bit more! Although Sheppard is doing a good job of being a 'young OŽNiell - "2 Ls!!"

stargate atlantis has more wrong with it than just the wraith.the storylines are rehashes of old sg1 or worse ripoffs of deep space nine.
none of the characters are likeable in any way and lets not even discuss how every stargate on unexplored planets in the pegasus system look like the stargate on atlantis, is that just coincidence?
what was the need for this spin off anyway?

I agree with silke. I have also warmed up to the characters and plot. At first I was NO WAY. But after I gave it a chance it was pretty good.

Sigh...have you ever WATCHED SG-1... time and time again, they prove that the uber-advanced races are soo used to uber-advanced energy weapons that they no longer had resistance to primitive weapons like ohh, projectiles such as guns. So why would the Wraith bother to defend themselves against primitive weaponry when they can withstand the GOD-LIKE power of the Ancients...over confidence always kills the big bad in every sci-fi show... But i agree the comment on the characters...except for Rodney Mckay, the god of snark and arrogance, the characters are wooden and dry...

Premise 1: The Wraith were so powerful that they wiped out the Ancients.
Premise 2: The Ancients sunk Atlantis to stop the Wraith from getting the technology.
Question: If the Wraith are so powerful, why don't they have submarines?
I'm not warming to the characters or storylines at all, but after the first episode of SG1 I ever saw I loved the characters and stories. Still, Atlantis isn't the worst TV show I've seen - BSG 2004 is.

I have to disagree with most of what you had to say. I LOVE SGA, have not missed an episode yet, and am also a HUGE fan of SG-1. The Asgard did not give SG-1 a lot of tech, they provided Earth with shield technology, and "brokered" a treaty whereby the Go'auld would leave Earth alone. They also did not lost the war to the Replicators, they were losing until Gen O'Neil came up with that disruptor gun (that he got from the Ancient "Library") and then they found that BIG disruptor on Dakara and wiped them all out at once. As for Atlantis sinking, it was done om purpose to keep the Wraith from getting any of the tech.

I am starting really like SGA. However, there are a few big holes in the plot.
1. Why is it that the Wraith have power for all three hive ships after 10,000 years and Atlantis does not?
They took the ZPM's when they left. AKA the high power generators. That is why it sunk. (This my personal understanding.)
2. IF the Wraith are a off-spring of a bug/human, how did they ever develop the technology to fight the Ancients and why didn't the Ancients see it coming. I mean they had to build those ships somewhere. Just think of the what would be needed to build those hive ships.
I will be kind and ask 1. how old are you? And then 2. Did you not watch SG-1 seasons 1-9? So far every question you have was answered years ago on that program
3. Why haven't we contacted the AzGaurd (sp?) to help or better yet, they seem to know everything as it is so why aren't they helping?
We have, again years ago. SG-1's whole point was to visit worlds to get powerful tech to defend themselves. However in episodes later the AgGaurd eventually suffered a devastating lost of life to there race to machines called Replicators, but before they lost their fight The AgGaurd gave SG-1 so much advanced tech to defend themselves that it was not funny. Well, yes it was. But, it was really cool. And, don't forget SG-1 found their own resources before meeting The AgGaurd.
4. Just a few thoughts. Love to hear your feedback. Cheers,
I can tell you more if you have more questions.
