Was Victor Bergman axed from Moonbase Alpha because he was too boring?
No one could have failed to notice the dramatic changes from the first to the second season. Victor Bergman and Paul Morrow were axed and replaced by the younger and more vibrant Maya and Tony Verdeshi (funny, how even Italians on Space: 1999 have British accents).
Why was Victor dumped? Could it be because he was so slow, dull, and plodding? Whenever aliens would attack, and Commander John Koenig would go to him for advice, he would just be puttering in the lab, and slowly ruminate, "Well... John... I... don't... know...."
And what about Paul Morrow? Do you think he left because he got tired of being smacked around by Commander John Koenig? It seemed every other episode he would get taken over by an alien and get smacked around by Commander John Koenig, who would try to knock some sense into him.

Reality surpasses fiction (bbc site): Sudan man forced to 'marry' goat--A Sudanese man has been forced to take a goat as his "wife", after he was caught having sex with the animal. The goat's owner, Mr Alifi, said he surprised the man with his goat and took him to a council of elders. They ordered the man, Mr Tombe, to pay a dowry of 15,000 Sudanese dinars ($50) to Mr Alifi. "We have given him the goat, and as far as we know they are still together," Mr Alifi said.

I don't know about that, but he was certainly a poor science officer. He seldom had anything but the most general statements to say about any problem that faced Alpha.

Victor was killed because he found about about the love triangle of Paul Morrow, Alan Carter and Sandra Benes. Paul strangled him after he told Koenig.
Paul was killed off because Koenig found out he was a turdburglar during Pauls trial. Alan backstabbed Paul and turned witness at Pauls trial and said that when he was doing Sandra doggystyle, Paul came up from behind him and nailed him in the rear end. Koenig then burned Pauls rainbow flag and ordered Paul blown out the nearest airlock as penalty for his crimes. Koenig loved Victor like a father. Paul was then gagged with a red ball, trussed up like a turkey and then blown out the airlock on Launch Pad 2. The official record however says that Victor died when his spacesuit malfunctioned as per Koenigs orders; Paul Morrow was said to have died along with David Kano when a booster on their Eagle failed and they crashed on the launch pad - the whole thing was staged to look like an accident. The Eagle carrying Kano crashed on top of Pauls body and exploded. Kano was killed for literally making love to computer. Koenig thought this was twisted, so he staged the eagle accident to coincide with Morrow execution. Koenig was ruthless.
