yea thats how you spell it but shouldn't the wheel of time books be filed under fantasy? not mystery thriller?

The next book is A Memory of Light and is being completed by Brandon Sanderson (I think that's how you spell his name). It's being split up into three parts, each about 250,000 words (most books are about 150,000 at the longest). The first book is coming out in November of '09 I believe.

I'm quite certain that the series was first published in 1990. I remember because it was the year I was born.

I read a book in high school that I am trying to find again.
It is about two girls who run away from their family and hide in a cabin in the woods.
While they are there (and after experiencing a small lesbian encounter - which affects the one character later in the story) a strong storm "lifts" them to an alternate level on earth.
They then try to find their way back by travelling through these worlds where the different levels spin - they need to travel to each "door" (like a customs gate) to get to another level.
I believe there was more than one book but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the books or the author.
I'm trying to remember as much about the books but it's too hard to explain.
Can anyone help?
