Wesley gets dating advice from Riker
"Commander Riker, you're good with women,"
said Wesley. "How do you do it?"
Riker gave a broad smile, a syruppy grin that
distracted attention from his watery eyes. "That
reminds me of my last romance," he sighed.
"With the neuter girl?" said Wesley.
"The androgenous person," said Riker, giving
a sharp glance. "Just because she didn't have a
gender didn't make her any less of a person. Why,
I remember the time you fell in love with a girl
who polymorphed into a monster-"
"Ok, ok, I've been rebuked," Wesley
continued. "So tell me about her."
"She was very special," said Riker,
remembering his experience. "A physical
relationship was out of the question, of course."
"Of course," said Wesley, smirking.
"Yes," said Riker, glaring. "Of course." He
paused, and his watery smile returned. "But we
really had some great discussions about shuttle
piloting. I remember, one time she touched the
thruster controls, and said 'Will, this ties in
with the main power, doesn't it?' She always had
that special way of looking at things.... When
the people of her planet found out about our
relationship, they had her reprogrammed."
"Reprogrammed? Why, because they were
offended that she was dating someone with a
gender?" said Wesley. He had heard the story many
times before.
Riker shook his head. "No, her parents said
that they always wanted her to marry a doctor...
but I think they just didn't like me...."
