Dance of the Dead--An Episode about Nothing
The village holds a costume party. #6 resists but then agrees to go. The partygoers chase him for a while, he hides, and then they stop chasing him.
Analysis:
1) Not very much happened in this episode. We hear #6 listening to some nonsensical stuff on a pocket radio that has no bearing on the plot, and one of his former friends gets lobotomized. It doesn't look to me that #2 is trying very hard in this episode to crack #6.

I think this is the most chilling episode of all--not only is the horror of imprisonment accentuated by Dutton's fate, but Number 6 has to accept that all those who knew him (and who might have searched for him) regard him as dead. He has no life to return to. As Number 2 says, "This is your world. I am your world." Grim.

It was Dance of the Dead in which those events took place. In "Many Happy Returns" Number 6 finds The Village deserted and makes his final escape bid.
If there is any definitive concept in "Dance of the Dead" it is death: the physically dead body on the beach, Dutton's brain-death, the death symbolized by the black cat, the staged death of The Prisoner, and overall the emotional death of the Villagers, as seen by the faces of the carnival crowd.
