Deanna Troi: Sex kitten or battle ax?
There are many who think that Counselor Troi's role was a setback for women. Here was the stereotypical soft, nurturing character who took a back seat on most major decisions while serving in a secondary support position. Also, for most of the series, she wore very revealing outfits that showed a lot of cleavage. The fact that Counselor Troi was a quasi-military officer on a quasi-military ship and she was walking around showing her breasts could make one think that she is the sex object on the show, every bit as Yeoman Rand was on Classic Trek. In fact, while Yeoman Rand showed more leg, no regular character has shown as much of herself as Troi has.
There is undeniably a sexual appeal and purpose in how Troi is both dressed and situated. But unlike Vina and Shana and Rand Troi is very much in command of herself and her situation, and in a number of episodes proves invaluable to solving dilemmas. In "The Loss" it is Troi who uses psychiatric principals to figure out how to disintangle the ship from tiny organisms which are dragging it into a "cosmic string" which will crush the ship. In "Disaster" Troi finds herself in command of the ship during a time when most of the systems are off-line and the ship is in danger of blowing up. But she makes the tough decisions that enable everyone to survive. In "Thine Own Self" Troi takes the exam to become a full commander. She does everything she has to to pass the exam, including ordering Geordi to his death in order to save the ship (it was a holographic simulation).
Indeed, Counselor Troi can be far tougher than most give her credit for. In "Power Play" Troi gets taken over by an evil alien who shoots people. Of course, that wasn't her acting under her own control. But in "Face of the Enemy" Troi was very much under her own control. In that episode she was surgically altered to look like a Romulan by Romulan dissidents and given the false ID as a member of the fierce Romulan secret police, the Tal Shiarr. The dissidents want to use Troi to help them smuggle some of their own into Federation space.
Troi, on board a Romulan warship, is at first hesitant and obviously uncomfortable in her new role. But she quickly toughens up, and, when verbally attacked by the crusty ship's Captain, gives as good as she gets, bullying the Captain and crew like a real member of the Tal Shiarr would. In fact, Troi really gets into the act when she threatens one of her dissident allies that she will have his body ejected into space if he doesn't cooperate with her. Later, Troi even deposes the Captain and takes command of the ship.

I Think Troi was a sex kitten until she needed to be a battle ax. troi's job as counselor meant that she had to act as a diplomat, which she did so very well, however, when the sictuation called for it, she could get her battle ax on, like she she was ready to kill the romulan, who was about to kill crusher, when the situation required it.

After committing beastiality by bumping uglies with Worf she broke new ground. Doing it with an alien animal. Ok, so Worf can pilot a ship, handle weapons, ect. Nevertheless Worf is just one step up from a gorilla. I can just imagine the size of his "instrument". Its suprising he didnt cause major internal damage to Troi uterus. Oh no. Riker wasnt good enough - Im sure he had a big "instrument" too considering how big he was (and Im not talking about his Trombone either!) but it was probably half the size of Worf.

I'll go with the sex kitten 80% of the time. The other 20% for battle axe.
