Enterprise Season 3 - It's still bad
Enterprise Season three is an improvement over seasons one and two. That's the best that can be said about it.
Here are the problems
1) Many episodes still lack action and suspense. In "The Shipment" we expect him to blow up an alien weapons installation, a really good combat episode. Instead we learn there are moderate Xindi that he can be friends with. Very nice, but also very boring, as the most exciting scene is when Archer plants a bug in a shuttlecraft. Yawn.
Many episodes, while improved over "Malcolm's favorite foods" episodes, still lack excitement. Take the one where Hoshi was romanced by tentacle head. There was a much more interesting subplot where they discovered another alien sphere, but we never get to see that because we're too busy watching Hoshi not making out with tentacle head.
2) But the biggest problem is the lack of interesting characters. Archer, who was formerly soft and sensitive, is now tough, but he has no sense of humor, a flaw that is shared with the rest of the crew. They should try watching Stargate SG-1 to learn how to write interesting dialog and subtle humor. Watching these stiff characters, especially Malcolm, Hoshi, the wooden Vulcan, and Doctor Neelix go through the motions is dull. When was the last time T'Pol or the others said anything interesting, or funny, or memorable? Could it be... never?
Enterprise. Yawn.

I think it was introducing a powerful race with the capacity to destroy Earth that somehow NEVER get mentioned after the whole affair. Like Spock would have mentioned that no race had the ability to exterminate humanity since the Xindi during that whale probe affair? Or Kirk telling Sulu to steer clear of the deadliest sector of space in history like the Expanse? Seaon 3 was just a bunch of "Planet of the Week" eps strung together. Not to mention a liberal peppering of gratuitous time travel elements. How about Archer stealing a race that had nothing to do with his problems warp coil, leaving them to die in the deadliest sector of space with absolutely NO consequences to him? And its funny that despite all this, the almighty saviours of Earth are never heard of in over thirty years of movies, TV and books. There have been many pre-TOS historical characters brought up from TOS-DS9. But NONE of them saved the human race from extinction. Season 3 was just another desperate attempt to cement Archer in as a vital piece of TREK lore to legitimize their substandard show. But the more vital they make him, the less likely he would never be mentioned in future generations.
