Its a sort of understandable misconception. Look at C-3PO. Clobbered left and right about being gay when he's never so much has shown ANY sort of romantic interest in anything. Reed DOES bitterly gripe about the Reed bloodline coming to a close since his future counterpart never marries. So that WOULD imply he wants to marry and have kids. Sure gay people could adopt but if that was the case he could just ADOPT some child they find. Maybe Trip is the gay one. He strips a lot and bangs the hottest chick on the ship.
