despite the super scouts, three of which were glen larson's own kids, by the way, the show might have been tolerable if the original cast had stayed on. richard lynch, who is really a very, very nice man, also made a wonderful villain as xaviar, and starbuck and apollo could have had all kinds of adventures chasing him through time in an attempt to keep him from altering the present. remember, the concept for quantum leap came from an episode of the original galactica. i even liked the flying motorcycles, kind of. i have heard that several more scripts were written before the series was axed, including one where the lords of kobol appear and tell the colonials that their destiny doesn't include earth and they must move on, causing the fleet to rebel against adama's leadership. if this is true, i think it could have become a very good storyline and done away with a lot of the kiddy stuff. take care.

Galactica 1980 was indeed a horrible series, and once again ABC must bear the blame, for they tried to do Galactica on the cheap and in a time slot meant for little kids. As a matter of fact, I just ordered "Conquest of the Earth"--a Galactica 1980 telemovie comprising the premiere episode and "Night the Cylons Landed," which are two of the better episodes in the series. (I read a review of the film, and apparently there's an incredible beginning showing stock footage of the original series, I guess to explain to the audience what the Galactica is and why they've been fleeing through space. This is supposed to be the best part of the movie.) I'm not sure exactly what direction the show could have gone in, had there been a second season, but maybe a dual storyline showing the strains of Earth trying to assimilate a large population while the Colonials look for hints about the Thirteenth Tribe. I think there was a story written (never produced) in which Troy and Dillon find some ancestors from Kobol, frozen in suspended animation, along with four hidden battlestars. Again, I'm not sure if this is accurate or not, but it does show that even Galactica 1980 had some potential. I even liked the beginning of the one episode where the Cylons destroy the Gemini freighter--but I think this is the one where the children go to Earth and become the "Super Scouts." Aaargh!!

this is true. maybe 1980 happened in a parralell, or however you spell it universe. and anything is better than gino, even a root canal with no novacaine. take care.

Galactica 1980 happened all right. We need to accept it. However I just look at it as only a POSSIBLE outcome for TOS. Just like Marvels comic, the 90s comic and Richard "Sellout" Hatch's novel series are all possible directions from where TOS left off. 1980 wasnt handled terribly well but I still like it a Heck of a lot more than GINO. At least it didnt try to REPLACE TOS, just build onto it.

i would rather watch the wing commander movie rather than the new galactica. it's about as realistic as believing there are honest politicians. whoever would have thought duck dodgers would be the best sci-fi on tv?

humanoid cylons were first introduced in galactica 1980. of course we all know 1980 NEVER HAPPENED! IT WAS ALL A BAD DREAM!
the reasons the cylons in the new show are human, and mostly female is for sex appeal and the fact that it was cheaper. there are some robotic cylons, but just cheap cgi stuff

In the mini-series. When the Pres-to-be first arrives on Galactica w/ her aid, her aid and the coms officer catch each others eyes causing him to lose track of the pres-to-be. The com's officer, a black woman commonly seen on the bridge, walks in the opposite direction of the white guy with the afro (the aid). He continues in the opposite direction only to find her in a unisex head sponging herself off in a sink. Her name begins with a "G"- she's the one who commonly communicates with the fighter pilots when they are out.

What happened to the old IL series of Cylons? Lucifer and the Imperious Leader himself were from the IL series. Before the fembots there were basically Centurion series Cylons and IL series Cylons. Or were there other types of Cylons too?
Cheers!

Who needs to ruin Battlestar Galactica with this garbage....
You want to be left in suspense who the bad guy really is... ask for the return of the Mole and Anderson Cooper...

All I know, is there are boobs, as simple as that...every sci-fi show has them, whether in the form of human, robot converted to human, or just plain evil robot....BOOBS! By the way, there are robots....no boobs on them though.

Remember, some of the Cylons do not even realize they are Cylons to start with.
A nasty trick - Boxey is a Cylon.

Wait a.... the comm officer shows evidence of being a Cylon? How? In what way? I follow the show every time it airs and I have never seen the comm officer giving any indication they are not human or acting a little odd. Maybe I am just not paying close enough attention but I did miss last Fridays episode. Oopps! A recap is needed to bring me up to speed and please point out where and how the comm. officer is acting like a Cylon.

We know of:
1. That Kevin Spacey looking guy
2. Number 6, the hot blonde
3. The Sucked out the airlock guy
4. Boomer
5. the sleek cgi cylon robots
6. the chrome toaster old school bots
7. the cylon fighter flyers
During the mini-series there's evidence that the coms officer is a Cylon.
What about the recon ships Starbuck mentioned during the miniseries when she flew to the threshold of the storm?

How about synthetic humans? The cylon fighter appears to have some biologic parts. The 'human' cylons could be more advanced versions of terminators.

Not being able to distinguish the cylons from humans just doesn't makes sense. Either they're just human clones (in which case, not much to worry about.. just a handful of traitorous spys to deal with), or they're robots (in which case, they should be pretty easy to detect). Another weakness of the BG remake.
