Amelia, I must tell you that as a 19 year old bisexual woman from Philadelphia, I support you. As a reader since the age of 14 (I'm three years younger than you) your books are phenomenal! There has always been a satisfying twist and the book works out smoothly. Personally, to those of earlier posts, and as one who can talk for both sides equally, stick to you're own sexuality so the other doesn't bother you. Amelia majored in psychology also, which means every time you send something homophobic, then you show that you lean farther that way in the sexual spectrum. She knows this, and yes, it has been proven physically and mentally time and time again. As for the books, I've read them all. The fact that fate was a theme justifies that Oliza became a lesbian when it was dangerous to bear a child,...and there were no condoms around. Wolfcry and Hawksong are my favorites, though I couldn't do without The Den of Shadows that got me hooked. P.O.M. was great and the ending that had a part of Shevaun stay within Erin's mind was a nice way to address Erin's fear of losing the knowledge she had gained from the complex and taxing relationship. GO YOU!!!

I have been reading the shapeshifter series. I love the world she created, and would do anything to be an avian or falcon. It's such a magical world I can't but help feeling moved into it.
I just finished wolfcry.
I can't believe that Oliza just gave up her responsibilities like that just because of some futures she saw. Those foreseen futures are not definite, and some only happen when very specific (perhaps, unlikely) events happen. Yet, she took them to be the definite truth and gave up.
Another thing that concerns me is the Avians/Serpiente's reactions to her lesbian decision. With Avians being as reserved as they are, wouldn't they be against this lesbian-ness?
Plus, shapeshifters have some animal characteristics in them (short tempers for serpiente). Birds and snakes are not homosexual.
Sigh, if Oliza had to run away from her crown, she should've eloped with Nicias, the falcon. Not some lesbian wolf.
The author spent several books that make Oliza's decision very suspenseful. And then she throws it all away.
Maybe the reason Bitias didn't want to be queen of that pack was because she was interested in females, not males.

I did like Wyvernhail, but... there were some disappointing things about it. I always really liked Hai in the other books, she was always really different. But with this one written from her point of view, she wasn't really that unique. I had the same problem with Snakecharm. I Loved Zane in Hawksong, but I did Not like him in Snakecharm. I've kind of noticed that all of her heroines are almost exactly alike.
The other thing was Nicias. He's one of my favorite characters, and I think Falcondance might be my second favorite book of the series. But I hated how even though they were together, it never really said anything about him loving Hai. He cared about her yes, but... it wasn't the same. There should have been a defining moment when it was like, yes, he loves her. I hated how she was like "I can't replace Oliza for him." or something like that. It was sad and disappointing and made me kind of angry with Nicias. Oh well. I guess apart from that it was pretty good. If she meant for this one to clear everything up though and be the last one, I guess I don't really get how everything was solved so that the avians and serpiente really can live together side by side.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to clear up a few points:
1) Oliza is part avian part serpente. If she were to have a child by anyone, then that kid would grow up with crazy powers, go mad, and kill everyone. Amelia stated it in the book numerous times. The only way for Oliza to have a loving relationship where she could express that love freely where she wouldn't conceive a child would be for her to be with another girl.
2) Comparing the gay lifestyle to serial killers and terrorists is completely backwards. People don't like the serial killer lifestyle or the terrorist lifestyle because those two lifestyles hurt other people. The gay lifestyle doesn't hurt anyone. Period. It's consenting love between two people. The End.
Thank you.

GOSH people do you have to beat her up about her books!? This doesn't go out to everyone who has posted but really! I have sorry for when she reads this cause I would just like OMG do they hate me or something and I really don't care what people say about me. I didn't read WolfCry or whatever it is called. But you dont have to bash on it about being stupid and crap because of someone going Lesb. Im you good at LEAST be nice about the way you say it! Also people who say the book is boring or doesn't have a twist blah blah blah. Ummm I think you should try to write a book then try to get it published and after that get criticed ALOT!!! But hoping that a few people like it and demand for more and then have to appeal to those people and hope they will like that book! I IS REALLY HARD!!! So dont go trashing her books and stuff unless you have tried!

this book was poorly written. it was hard to follow as there was no flow AT ALL and the writing is very immature. the only thing i found entertaining were the characters but there was hardly a plot, no suspense, and the endings, like many of her books, are not well wrapped up, and if its supposed to hang like that, i think it didnt give the effect desired. but mainly there was no plot... sure vampire hunter goes into vampire building falls in love blah blah... but no suspense nothing unexpected no TWISTS. it was all predictable and that was a bore. sorry atwater your books arent that interesting, except the characters, but of course anyone can make up a character and give it a few worthwhile descriptions and actions, but plot takes skill, something you lack

I just finished Wolfcry, and it surprised me. I loved it but, I didn't like how she ran from her troubles. The future was grim, but even Hai said the future may be false. I don't hate the homosexual lifestyle, I just don't think the book needed it or was even ready for it. Hawksong was about love of a man and a woman and I think the books should have remained the same. I personally wish Oliza would have chosen Nicias or Pratl. I will still be looking foward to Wyvernhail, and will enjoy it no matter what happens.

I dont judge because i think that people have the right to think what ever they want. But i would not compar gay people with being terrorist. In the end we are all humans, being gay doesnt make you more or less of a person. You are who you are.

But what is the relationship based on? Sorry to be so very very blunt, but it’s not love, it’s the sick sex. Sorry, that’s just the way it is. Why is it that everyone who has a disputing opinion is viewed as close-minded? Having an opinion is not being close-minded. I’m not going to compare serial killing as murder, but couldn’t that be called a lifestyle? Or terrorism. For any terrorist it’s certainly a lifestyle for them. Again, I’m not comparing it with terrorism, but it’s the same concept. Are we close-minded for not letting them do what they want? Close-minded. Where’s the open-mindedness for people who think homosexuality is wrong? Where’s the “tolerance” for us?
A clone? And how exactly would you define a clone? Somebody who happens to agree with a large number of people? Because then your definition wouldn’t be correct, but that would make me a clone; however, then you would be to.
Hmm, for one reason or another, you didn’t answer Adna’s question. I wonder why that could be.
