It seems rather odd that with all his energetic jumping around that Darth Maul obligingly stood very still when Obi Wan Kenobi cut him in half. Do you think Darth Maul did so because he didn't want to appear in a second movie with Jar Jar Binks? Click here to post a message        padawan learner posts on 8/26/2007 1:58:11 AM well he was just sliced clean through, so his two halved just sat there on top on each other, and then balance was lost and he plummeted        Noonro posts on 4/25/2007 11:33:50 PM Well, if a disarmed enemy you had defeated and were just kind of toying with as they dangled helplessly in a bottomless pit suddenly managed to jump up and behind you with another weapon, you'd be surprised too. Keep in mind, that, while an amazingly skilled acrobat and swordsman, Darth Maul didn't have much experience fighting jedi. He's been training in secret, not wandering around hunting down jedi. That would be beside the point. He's fought and killed many many extremely skilled opponents, but the inner strength and power of Obi-Wan (who, though young, was one of the best jedi that ever lived) was something he'd never seen before and it surprised him for a split second. You also need to look at Darth Maul's fighting style. Compare him to Darth Sidious for example. While Sidous's fighting is powered by shear Dark Side energy and hatred, Darth Maul is just incredibly honed athletic ability and grace. He isn't a big force-using guy. If Obi-Wan had tried that with an enemy stronger in the force, he would have been sliced in half. As it was, instead of sensing the attack coming, Darth Maul only registered a second of confusion before Obi-Wan lept. He was just taken advantage of by a move he didn't expect.        The commentator Shade Stephen posts on 3/18/2005 2:33:37 AM Hell-o! Well, it is not a problem of Darth Maul. It is problem of George Lucas, īcause he needed Obi-Wan Kenobi in several Episodes. Donīt you think that Maul is much more skilled in the combat than Obi-Wan?
