He was born Armando Joseph Catalano to immigrant parents who came here from Sicily. He grew up in NYC. When he entered show-biz an agent suggested he change his mane to avoid him being type cast in ethnic roles. In the mid 70's he was enticed to go to Argentina to make a publicity appearance, the people there worshipped him. He wasn't happy with Hollywood and the lack of good roles post LIS.
