Palpatine needed a clone army because he wanted an army all to himself that he could command and he could take control of the universe and kill the Jedi. First of all, he ordered Sypho Dias to order it for him. Second, he waited until the Jedi found out for themselves that the Republic had a clone army all to themselves. It was all a trick! If you watched the movies correctly and payed attention to it, you could see that he just ordered the clone army for a trick and to kill the Jedi and that he had army. And he didn't use the Droids because he didn't want other puny things in the universe. Besides, he had already ordered the clone army. He wanted the power!

THe reason he wanted the clones is because clones can think freely and dont need to be programmed like a droid on how to kill people.

He wanted a clone army cause the droid army wasn't darth sidious's army.the droid army is a geosanina on the planet geosanina during the AOTC.
he wanted his own army . after a while the clones was his army and the leader geo (the bug)'s army was not useful anymore ,so darth sidious went to Mustafar to destory the last of the new droid army.

The Emporer needed a clone army so that he could create an army of his own once the empire was created. His plan, i beleive, was perfect. Droids are more like pieces of scrap, rahter than a perfect, reliable, obediant army.

the Emperor needed the clone army to defeat the Jedi, because the droids are insufficent and the jedi cut through then like butter.

Palpatine was probably pleased at first with the Trade Federation's droid army. But later, he became disillusioned when hundreds of them could be slain by two Jedis (or pushed aside by the Force), and also by the fact that the droids had to carry weapons, instead of having them simply built into their arms. (After all, they were designed for combat, right?) So Palpatine created a clone army of athletic, strong, powerful, focused men. He then went about giving them cumbersome armor that hampered their movements, restricted their vision, and wouldn't even repel a laser hit. Rumor has it that Palpatine was contemplating creating a clone army of Jar Jar Binkses to confound the rebels in "Return of the Jedi" before his untimely demise.

the jedi order would of anhilated a droid army..look at it this way..jango almost kicked obi wans ass on kamino..obi wan is probably the 3rd most powerful jedi in the order...thousands of jangos against hundreds of jedi..easy victory

In actuality (heh), Obi Wan was assigned to investigate the clones and Jangar Fett. Remember, he was captured, yet still linked the clones to Dooku. The speed with which everything happened, including the naming of the Sith Lord, prevented the rapid dissemination --telling others, for those of you in Rio Linda, CA-- of facts. It was especially obvious when they clones began killing Jedi.

Well, I thought there was a plot hole in GL's attempt to make everything come full circle but maybe that isn't the case. The jedi were obviously pretty retarded at this point in the series(relying on their powers instead of common sense.). They never questioned the fact that the clones had the same genetic information as one of the assasins hired by Dooku, a leader of the separatist movement. Not a single jedi was assigned investigate this strange coincidence. Then there's the weapon made of some alloy which conveniently is produced only on one planet which for some reason is missing on the galactic map(hmm, pretty sloppy work for an assasin unless he was told to plant the information.). This reminds me of that line from that movie by Mel Brooks, Spaceballs. "Now you see why evil will triumph...because good is dumb."

In response to the plot hole. Palpatine for one could not order a full out war against the reublic without revealing himself or his Imperial plan. He would have been overwhelmed with enemies from both sides. The Seperatist would have never sided with Sidious if they knew he planned to reconstruct into a empire and in turn eliminate them. It would have never worked. He also did not have total control of Droid army to begin with, he shared that with the Viceroy and other Seperatist groups. He would have been expsoed. Also keep in mind the Emperor's major enemy was the jedi not the politicians. If he would have used both armys for the takeover, He would have never caught the jedi off guard seperated across the galaxy, he would have never aquired Anakin as an Ally/Enforcer, and thus would have been hunted down and killed. No Emperor no threat.

the droid army is weak, you can tell by all the battles. who cares if the clone army takes a while to create, it destroyed most of the jedi, i'd like to see a driod army do that!

Well first of all. The droid army was weak in the begining with the Trade Federation in Episode I. The droid army of the Federation failed in the Emperors plan of using them to create future blockades and invasion throughout the galaxy. Rather than being the sterotypical villian, "Rats I have been foiled", he took a positive approach. He carefully created a dogmatic plan in manipulating people by using War and choas for his rise of power. He created distrust in the Republic and created the Seperatist movement. With the Techno Union, The Finance Guild, the Trade Federation he created a powerful Seperatist Army. As part of the plan.. He created them to be not so strong. The Seperatist Movement and the leaders in the Movement were suppose to be pawns. Collatial Damage to his rise of power. The Emperor used them to create fear in the Republic and plan to rid of the Jedi once and for all. Under the guise of being Palpatine the good guy.. he was proclaimed leader in creating an Army of the Republic. Little did the Republic and Jedi masters knew, by coincidence they had a Clone Army on order and at-the-ready. Hmmmm.. Well since the Republic unknowingly already paid for it, they had it and used the army in defense. While the Armies were trying kill each other off, Palpatine was running the whole show, while planning absolute power in the galaxy. The war was only the forefronted theater in taking total control in the galaxy, and having the Republic subjugated under him. When the Republic agreed to his absolute power, he declared that Republic should be an empire. Using the clone army to take total control of the Outer-Rim terriorties (planets) by invasion. EI: Dantooine, Tatooine, Kerryyshik (Wookie planet), Melz.. and so forth.

Clones are far superior to droids in every aspect, especially after genetically altering them to be less independent. So why not just use both armies, one to instill fear through the masses of the droids, but also through the fact that the clones can react to different environments that droids cant.
