How did Gandalf cure Theoden?
From what we read, Gandalf simply took Theoden outside and had him look at the mountains, trees, and streams, and that cured him. What kind of therapy is that? Obviously, something else was going on here; Gandalf must've given Theoden some sort of energy boost, or gotten him in touch with his own feelings, or something. But from the way it's described Theoden took one look at the hills, and zap! he's a new man! Can this really be believed?

Gandalf became a White Wizard and he had the Ring of Fire!

Theoden was possesed by Saruman. Gandalf at this point no longer had the power of a wizard. He had lost all of his power fighting the balrog. At this point Gandalf was wearing one of the 3 Elven rings of power. I believe he might have had vilya the ring of fire. It was the power from the ring that he used to banish Saruman from Theoden's mind.Saruman was the most powerful wizard but he was no match for the power of an elven ring.
