(click here) Books-Commentary - J.R.R. Tolkien How did Frodo make a living? After Bilbo left, Frodo lived on his own for many years, both before and after he got rid of the ring. But what did he do for a living? He didn't seem to do anything except eat and walk around. Was he living off of Bilbo's money? Or did he have some sort of job? Come to think of it, what did Bilbo do for a living? Was he independently wealthy too? If you were a rich hobbit, would you want to live in a hole? Wouldn't it be, well, dark? I sure Frodo had a lot of money.
